Despite everyone’s best efforts, the UK literacy SATS results for 2008 have shown no improvement.
That means that one in five children (120,000) will be arriving at secondary school in September, still unable to read. What is the point of going really? They are just going to be exposed to more years of frustration and humiliation due to their lack of ability to perform in a literate environment.
And we have found that most dyslexics are highly intelligent. Indeed it is their intelligence that can cause their problems with reading, because they use it to shortcut the reading process.
90% of these children can definitely learn to read with the right support.
There is more information on this in our dyslexia information pages .
