He has been recognising words around him in the wider world, sides of lorries, front pages of magazines when we are in shops etc. He also picks up a book to flick through at night when I don’t have time to read to him and his brother.
I think the system has helped him to write for longer too – he exceeded the aim on his individual action plan at school, winning a certificate. His aim had been to write two thirds of a page of A4 in 20 minutes, but he has been writing a page -a big difference from last year. I think he still has some way to go, but he is not so ‘scared’ of reading now.
