Parent Reviews of Easyread

Our most recent reviews:

Now I can read

I just got the Gold code word and you said you wanted me to email you. My Easyread experience was pretty good. Sometimes I got stumped. Now I can read, but it still takes me time to decode some words. My favorite part was the Unger story, even though I got stumped a little there, sometimes. I am glad my mom and I decided to use this program.

So easy to get her to do Easyread

Isabelle loves Easyread and it has been so easy for me to get her to do her Easyread lesson 6 times a week. After starting 6 weeks ago I can see her confidence is growing and sounding out words in her normal reading and getting some of them right. We are on our way to success!

2 grades above where she was last year!

Just wanted you to know that Sydnee is doing great with her reading.  She is, I can confidently say at least 2 grades above where she was last October.  I cannot believe the difference.  Of course, her self esteem, and confidence when she is reading is so much better.  She has worked really hard but this system was really what she needed and it happened at the right time.  We will continue to read and for her to be challenged with harder reading.  We are working on spelling now.  It is coming along, but I think she just needs to practice, practice, practice.
Thank you so very much for this wonderful system.

Fantastic program

I have also recommended this program to several people who have kids with learning difficulties – I really think this program is fantastic.

Rarely upset now!

He is now finding the reading easy, with the trainer text easier than the plain text. He’s able to correct errors straight away and is making fewer errors. He is very rarely upset about making errors now, whereas he initially got very upset over the slightest thing.

Massive decoding improvement

I have another student E who has responded very well to EasyRead. She has made massive improvement with her decoding and is positive towards the lessons. She is reading the EasyRead text fluently at the moment and completes the scramble text page with little support.

I can't believe it, to be honest!

Jack did an assessment this morning without me watching over him and he did fantastic. I can’t believe it to be honest. I am very proud of him.

This has been the best

Jason enjoys his lessons and it is he who tells me that he needs to do his lesson. I wait for Jason to tell me that he wants to do the lesson so that I’m not forcing him to do them. When reading the text he still makes about 6 mistakes but I can see the improvement in his reading, I just need him to slow down and remind him to decode the words. I’ve tried different ways of getting Jason to read and so far this has been the best.

I really enjoyed it

I have enjoyed the course and I think it has helped me a lot. It has been quite hard to keep going for such a long time, but I am pleased that I have done it. It was sometimes hard to understand the words in the spell race. Apart from that I really enjoyed the course. Thank you.

Helped us tremendously

EasyRead has been wonderful for Henry. We haven’t kept up with it lately, mostly because he is reading so well (and because of the end of the year exhaustion on all of our parts).

Thank you for everything. You’ve helped us tremendously with this wonderful program. Henry’s schoolteachers know about it and share the information with other parents of children who are struggling.

Enjoyment of reading

Dear David, Sarah, and Easyread Staff,

I cannot believe that it has been a year since I discovered your website and program on the internet.

Thank you to the Easyread program and all that it has done to help improve Ty’s reading abilities in the past year. His decoding and fluency have improved, as well as, his enjoyment of reading.

The codeword prizes were also a nice incentive. He is TRYING to wait patiently for the arrival of his helicopter. I think this “Special Prize” is what has kept him motivated to complete the entire program.

So grateful for this program!

Ezra is so excited to be near the finish mark! I just asked him what we should write. He said it has been lots of fun, his reading has really improved and he finds it much easier to read. He picks up material (like auction magazines) and reads it. He reads to his younger brother and says “It’s fun.”

As parents, we are so grateful for this program! It has made such an improvement in Ezra’s reading. Our 10-year-old is not reading yet and we plan to enroll him in Easyread if he doesn’t display improvement soon. He’s been watching Ezra do his daily Easyread lessons, so he’s very familiar with the program.

Thanks for all you do to enable children to read. It’s truly a blessing!

Read Harry Potter last night!

Just wanted to let you know that I can see a definite improvement in his daily reading at this point. He is starting to sound out words around him, a lot of the time successfully. He even took out a Harry Potter book from the library and read half a page last night, only needing minimal help from me.

I am feeling very satisfied with the results so far.

Incredibly helpful

Adam has found your course incredibly helpful and it has really helped with his reading, which has improved a lot since he began.

Definitely showing results!

My girl loved the “spy” sunglasses and I can see a lot more motivation in her now.  We are also trying to get in at least one session a day.  It isn’t easy, but it is definitely showing results.  I can’t thank you enough for making this program.  She had been struggling in school (we live in an area where the schools are… well they’re crap) but your program is more fun and she is learning.  She read her first easy-reader book just a little bit ago! And she loves that the voice on Easyread sounds like her dad; it makes her want to use it more.
So thank you again 🙂

He is enjoying it immensely!

Michael was pleased you sent him a personal message. Yes, he has been enjoying it immensely. Thank you so much!

So professional and personable!

We both found the Skype lesson very valuable, the lady who took it (sorry am terrible with names!) was just excellent. so professional, but also personable and great at relaxing Freya and me both, with that sort of quality of staff working for Easyread it is
easy to see why it has been so beneficial for us!

Reading with fluency and confidence

The program is going well! Ava still loves doing the daily sessions. She is decoding very quickly now, and reading with much more fluency and confidence.
Thank you!

No longer covers her work so no one can see it!

We are really happy with her improvement in reading/spelling and her self confidence and writing has improved immensely. She no long covers her work with her arm so no one can see her work. Grace has tried out for the school production, remembering and reciting a full page of lines and singing a song in the audition.

She is working out words now

Sapphira is enjoying it and she is working out words such as friend and wasp which she definitely wouldn’t have been able to do beforehand, so that’s good news. I think this will really help.

She rarely guesses now

So far Stella is doing well and we are noticing some improvement in her reading at home and school. Her confidence has surely gone up and she rarely guesses now.

I feel more confident

The program was really fun. I liked it a lot. It helped me with my spelling by helping to sound out the words. I feel more confidant now than when I started.

Now happy reading her school books

Melissa’s reading is much improved (thank you) and she is now happy reading her school reading books and is sounding out her words.

Case Study: Struggling with easy words and similar sounds

IMGP0409Before Easyread: Daisy’s mother became concerned about her daughter’s reading towards the end of Reception. But since she was so young for her year group, the teachers reassured her there was no reason to worry. However, Daisy failed to progress much in Year 1 as well, despite concerted efforts from school and home. Words that she decoded on one page were not recalled on the following or even facing page. She still found it very hard to distinguish between some similar sounds. Daisy was assessed by the SENCO for dyslexia as her older brother is dyslexic too, and by the summer term the SENCO confirmed there were strong signs of it.

Daisy visited an Educational Psychologist when she turned 6 to confirm the diagnosis. It was the Ed Psych who recommended Easyread as a programme that other parents had found useful. They started on it right away.

During Easyread, Daisy worked very hard on the program on a daily basis… including Christmas morning! She didn’t always enjoy it, but began improving. The short 15-minute lessons were helpful, as was the daily repetition of doing a lesson. Daisy also began seeing a speech therapist to get help with rhyming and distinguishing the similar sounds in words, something that the Easyread team also noted.

The results have been very significant, and are reflected in her literacy assessments over time. When she was assessed before the start of Easyread, at age 6.1, her reading age was assessed at 5.4 with a comprehension age of 5.7. By spring term 5 months into Easyread now at age 6.5, her reading aged had jumped to a 7.2, with a comprehension age of 7.4!

Mum Kate says “her improvement has been immense”!
