Well we had some great news today. Bethan’s reading age before starting Easyread was 4.10 (July 2013). She was tested today and her reading age has increased to 6.4. Although she’s still behind her actual age, she’s made 18 months progress in just 6 months! Her spelling age is also an amazing 7.3 years. Her teacher also commented that her confidence and perseverance has increased ten fold as this term has gone on and she’s confident it is linked to her success with
reading.
As we talked about today, her teacher has also noted that she is still struggling with the longer words, even polysyllabic words with simple sounds in, but thinks this will improve with practice. She also passed her stage 3 keyword book which we haven’t looked at all (and they have to read the word, not sound it out first to pass!).
