We have found the Easyread process easy to set up and maintain. Catherine loves feeling in control with the page options when she is reading. We make sure she re-reads the lines until she is fluent with the words and the page with only the Trainertext.
Recently she has turned the story bit into a kind of ‘story time’ for her younger sister, who has been eager to see what her big sister is doing! It has also generated questions about the meaning of the story and the use of certain unusual words.
The continual decoding has begun transferring to her school reading scheme as well. When she is at home with us she has started to read a chapter book, The Owl who is afraid of the Dark, doing every other sentence.
This scheme has certainly given Catherine the confidence to have a go, and the funky monkey games are a definite favourite! Long may this continue.
