I heard Seren trying to read a book to herself for the first time ever yesterday. She was sounding the words out to herself. She has always loved books, but has never tried to read them. She has also moved up in reading at school. I am surprised at how fast her confidence and reading ability have improved.
This programme seems to be what was needed to tip her over to being in a position to benefit from all the additional help that has been provided for her at school.
The fact that she was prepared to have a go at reading without any assistance means that her confidence has increased. Now she will be in a position to really take advantage of learning opportunities more easily.
