We have been satisfied with the program. My kids typically remind me that it is time for Easyread. They enjoy the format of the games and are growing in confidence using the program. As we continue with the same Little Pigs story, I see that there is some monotony for them, but the different games at the end keep them motivated.
I can see a specific increase in Julien’s ability to sound words out instead of guessing as he would often do. And I am beginning to see this in his normal reading decoding as well. However, as you mention, I have not yet seen any significant gains in his normal reading.
I understand the need for using the symbols on the second page of the story each week, and Julien has become very proficient at reading the sysmbols and not becoming frustrated. However, I am wondering how long they will have the symbols. I would like to see more substanial text. Will this happen in the next story?
We are patient, and the kids enjoy the program, so I don’t want it to become too difficult. But I am looking forward to seeing the work that they are doing in Easyread translate into real world application. Hopefully, by the end of December, we will have great things to report.
Thanks,
C
