Parent Reviews of Easyread
Our most recent reviews:
Her teacher said Emily seems to be more confident and things sort of clicking in her head
“So far I’m very very happy with your system, as we never have done a program like this don’t have anything to compare with, but certainly think it’s fantastic and yes seen progress on Emily’s decoding and doing it much faster and easier, she doesn’t seem to need lots of help anymore, just support and lots of encouragement.
Last week I talked to her teacher at school and she said that Emily seems to be more confident and things sort of clicking in her head.”
Things are taking off for 8 year-old Emily at lesson 48
He always puts up his hands to read out loud to the rest of the class
“I had a meeting this morning at school regarding Dillon and I have highly recommended the Easyread program because I really think it has helped him not only with his reading but also with his comprehension and I think he also concentrates better. The teacher told me that he always puts up his hands to read out loud to the rest of the class.”
9 year-old Dillon is now brimming with confidence. Amazing!
We've spent so much time with Easyread over the last 5 months it feels like we are moving away from long time friends
“We’ve spent so much time with Easyread over the last 5 months it feels like we are moving away from long time friends!”
But we are always sad to say goodbye!
This has been the best program!
Things have been going really well. He is just taking off! He keeps surprising me with what he can read now. We just bought a couple of the chapter books off the recommended list from one of the blog posts and he is reading that to me on the side. I’m sure he could continue to get a lot out of easy read but I think he has reached a point that we can successfully transition! This has been the best program and really turned things around for us. Thanks to you and the whole crew for the work that you do:) We’ve spent so much time with Easyread over the last 5 months it feels like we are moving away from long time friends!
Clear spelling progress at lesson 164
“I am really seeing an improvement in Lou’s spelling in her school books. She is becoming much faster at writing on the computer too. I think we are experiencing a period of steadier progress which is wonderful.”
Way to go Louise (11)! We’d expect to start to see changes in a child’s spelling at around lesson 150, so that’s absolutely perfect.
we're extremely happy with Jonathan's progress
Jonathan has come on amazingly in his reading at school – in part due to all the lessons we did through Easyread. You will have noticed that he has not done many Easyread lessons recently. As he has gained so much confidence in his reading we feel it is a good time to cancel our subscription. It has certainly been very worthwhile and we’re extremely happy with Jonathan’s progress.
Many thanks,
Steve
Improvements in her spelling and ability to self correct
“We had parents evening last night and I was pleased to see in Amelia’s books and hear from her teacher that there have been improvements in her spelling and ability to self correct.
Thank you, thank you and thank you. I have been talking about the programme in school and will continue to do so as Amelia progresses further.”
A happy mum post-parent’s evening! Amazing to hear that 8 year-old Amelia’s spelling is starting to change after 65 lessons. Keep up the great work Amelia!
Truly come a long way
He has truly come a long way and likes the programs. His teacher is very happy with his progress at school. She told me that she visited your website because of Chase’s progress!
He is reading for pleasure!
Hey there! We are doing so well with his reading outside of the program! He is picking up books and reading for pleasure! We are so grateful, and recommend you to all of our friends and family.

Breakthrough Readers of August
by Maddie Rossmaur || 28 Nov 2016
Please join us in congratulating Theo, Peighton and Cassidy, who all turned a big corner with their reading in August.
Theo
Reading never came easy for 9 year-old Theo, but it was coming along. It was spelling, however, that that was the bigger problem for Theo. When Theo spelled, he could spell phonetically, but the accuracy when it came to writing the vowel sounds just wasn’t there.
At around lesson 120, Theo’s reading had visibly started to take off, as he gained in fluency and accuracy in sounding out unfamiliar words.
Now that Theo’s reading is really starting to take-off, we can’t wait to hear how his spelling accuracy comes along. Well done Theo!
Peighton
9 year-old Peighton loved stories, and her parents had read with/to her every day since she was little. Her mum would have described her reading ability as OK, and after some indications of concern from the school in grade 1, there didn’t seem to be any red flags now.
Rather than her reading, it was her writing and spelling skills that worried Peighton’s mum the most. Despite routine practise outside of school for the past few years, Peighton was not seeing the results she was hoping for. As a result, her confidence started to take a turn for the worst.
After reading the information on spelling difficulties on our website, Peighton seemed to fit the pattern of a child who managed to get by with her reading techniques, but she was getting over 50% of the words incorrect in her free writing.
At lesson 90, Peighton has decided to finish the Easyread programme, happy with the progress she has seen for herself. Her mum says:
“We are happy with her progress and have reached the goals we set out to reach. Thank you very much. I would recommend this program to other families with children learning to read.”
Peighton’s mum also had a message from Peighton: “Peighton said she would like to say that she had a lot of fun doing the easy read program and feels confident and likes to read on her own now. She also says Thanks.”
Peighton’s reading speed has just soared over the past few months, and we are confident that with her newfound decoding skills and confidence, both her reading and writing will continue to go from strength to strength. Well done Peighton!
If you feel like your child has reached the point of reading take-off and we haven’t included them this month, then do let us know, so we can send their badge out to them for this month. And do let us know if you’re having any worries around this stage too – we’re here to help every child achieve their breakthrough. And as always, congratulations to our Easyread graduates who completed the course with the achievement of their helicopter this month.
…
We chose Cassidy as our Breakthrough Reader of August. We’ll let you discover more of her story below.
Cassidy
9 year-old Cassidy had received an official dyslexia diagnosis prior to beginning the Easyread programme. She had also tried other reading intervention programmes at home.
And yet, reading didn’t come easily for Cassidy, and this had an impact on her reading fluency. Her reading difficulties were also causing difficulties for her writing and her maths too, with word equations proving problematic.
Cassidy’s tracking difficulties were also making the reading process more difficult, although putting a sheet of paper under a line of text seemed to make this easier.
Cassidy’s mum knew she was an extremely bright, creative child, who was very much a visual learner.
At bang on lesson 90, we were delighted to receive this message from Cassidy’s mum:
“I would like to let you know that Cassidy is finding the Easyread reading exercise easier now which is fantastic news!”
Cassidy is now reading the longer stories in our Easyread library, where the characters are not automatically present, and are more like a “traditional” book.
Cassidy continues to work on her eye-tracking and rereading any phrases where there’s been a difficult word, to help move from decoding accuracy to building on the foundations of reading fluency. We’re also working on building up Cassidy’s reading confidence, and we hope this award helps Cassidy to see how far she’s come over the past 3 months.
You should feel very proud, Cassidy.
To celebrate, Cassidy spent the day at Luna Park amusement park in Sydney, super fun!
It’s very frustrating and upsetting to see your child struggling with simple readers when all their classmates seem to be powering ahead
“I would highly recommend the ‘Easyread’ learning technique to any parent whose child is having difficulty learning to read and spell at school.
It’s very frustrating and upsetting to see your child struggling with simple readers when all their classmates seem to be powering ahead.
It involves a 15-20 minute online exercise daily which is made as interesting and engaging as possible.
Even David’s voice on the recordings is friendly and very motivational.
My 6 year old has gone from tears doing his homework to picking up a book and proudly reading to us. He also offers to spell words on long car journeys where previously he would totally refuse any such games.
I can’t say it’s a breeze getting yourself and your child to sit down every day but Easyread send out small motivational gifts to the child every few weeks to help keep them motivated. They constantly give positive feedback to yourself and your child as you go through the program. They are extremely nice people and seem genuinely interested in achieving a successful outcome for your child.
I would like to thank David and the Easyread team for all their help. We’ve had a very positive experience and outcome having embarked on the Easyread program.”
Gráinne, mum of (now) 7 year-old Darragh
Easyread picked up on convergence visual issues!
I am writing to let you know some important updates that I thought you would like to know. At Nicole’s annual eye exam in August, I mentioned, again, about her difficulty with reading etc. The Dr. has always checked her for it and there had been no issues that she could find, but this time she saw something and diagnosed Nicole with convergence excess!!!! She not only prescribed reading glasses but we also finally did go to a visual learning specialist who confirmed the diagnosis and suggested a 6 month program of vision therapy. Probably not a surprise to you since she did keep coming up as a red flag for possible tracking problems! All the signs of the disorder seem to fit Nicole’s struggles in school and they feel she will make good progress. I knew the Easyread system was on to something and I always kept it in the back of my mind to go further with testing but kept thinking the eye tracking exercises would help. Now I know that she probably had a hard time doing them 10×10 because she DID in fact have a problem. So THANK YOU!!!! It is truly amazing how your system picked up on that.
Easyread has certainly been a success for Amelia!
“We have really noticed a difference in Amelia’s reading and spelling. She is more confident now and reads with greater speed and accuracy. She still needs to slow down with her spelling, but it is much better now and she can spot her own errors. So big thanks to Easyread – it’s certainly been a success for her!
Nichola”
11 year-old Amelia finishes the course after 160 lessons. Way to go Amelia!
Easyread is a miracle!
I am really pleased with the Easyread program. We are at lesson 50 and my son still has fun with the lessons and looks forward to completing them. He has gone from frustrated and crying through almost any reading session to being eager to read and saying things like “I am a really good reader!” Which is incredible compared to his defeated attitude only 3-4months ago. Easyread is a miracle and I am so glad I stumbled upon the program!!
Jacob is amazing and reading!
Great for an incredibly visual learner
Frankie is an incredibly visual learner and this method gives her a fun and tangible image to associate with each sound. She likes that and it is working very well. Frankie very much looks forward to her time doing Easyread. She finds the lessons enjoyable, fun, and easy. It has been a very positive experience.
Secret agent Jade is taking her reading training VERY seriously
“So far things are all good from this end. We’re seeing more confidence in trying to read both within Easyread program and any reading outside the program. Jade [11] also has no qualms to start on her daily Easyread lessons.
She is also very content with her special present: the magnifying glass with light and blue light. It came in handy – they have just released a new $5 AUD bill, which has a minuscule, in millimetres written declaration in to make it more fraud proof and can not be read with the naked eye. She got her magnifying glass out and read and spelled through the whole declaration ( with minimal assistance). So that was a great achievement and confidence booster.”
Jade’s mum
Seeing attitude changes in first 10 days…
The initial words and work seemed almost too easy to me in the beginning. However, I understand the point to it in building confidence. Charlie’s attitude towards reading is beginning to change and this has made me the happiest in the initial trial. All we have tried in the past is to make him read. This has resulted in screaming, crying fights. He asks to do Easyread.
15 minutes a day > hours of reading intervention at school…
Noah does find the reading text easier now than the decoding, this is certainly true for this sister Nevaeh. Noah has not yet developed fluently of reading as of yet but we are working hard to develop those skills by using all the suggestions you are giving us. He rereads all of the texts when there is obvious choppiness and mistakes. He is still struggling but Easy Read has truly made a remarkable difference, its a shame that his previous teachers have spent months and several hours teaching him to read with little to no progress and with just the course of the summer and 15 minutes per day the children are only now developing into competent readers. Thanks again for helping us, we will be staying with easy read until they are able to reach the level of their peers.
I am close to tears (of joy, of course)…
“Thanks Maddie. Sasha is really excited about the fact that she is almost finished. She’s really been enjoying the lessons and I am close to tears (of joy, of course) when I see her decoding big complicated words. It’s phenomenal.”
A happy mother-daughter team and a happy Easyread team at lesson 200
He's turned a corner!!
Robbie seems to have turned a corner!! He is suddenly reading much more fluently and starting to recognize words correctly that he hasn’t seen before. He still try’s to guess sometimes, but is easy to re-direct. He has gotten 100% on his first to spelling tests at school as well. He is starting to move through the trainer text very quickly and might be ready for a little longer text? Things are going so well…
Thank you for being there in our time of need
We would like to thank you for the program and all the support you have given us and Kaitlyn over the past 5 months. Kaitlyn is now a confident reader and writer. She is at the top reading level for her school year and loves reading and writing. She also received a special award at school last week.
We have chosen to stop now as Kaitlyn is now very keen to read books where she can enjoy the whole story.
Thank you for being there in our time of need!! We are so grateful that our little girl will never know she was ever behind in reading.
It’s been a great journey for all of us! A month or so ago Kaitlyn came running in to my room one Saturday morning super exited and said ‘Mum, look, I can read this book, look how much I’ve read’. That was a really special moment for us. The photo was taken the same morning, not long after she realised she could read it!
Amelia is chuffed to have reached level 4
“Amelia is chuffed to have reached level 4 [in Easyread]. She says that she feels her spelling has improved and she seems to concentrate more on the decoding instead of rushing and is starting to read quicker and more accurately.”
Amazing changes for 8 year-old Amelia at lesson 40!
Parent review from a parent who has used the programme with all 3 of her children!
“I am ever so thankful to have discovered you. It was after realising that our eldest was not learning to read quite as quickly as we were hoping. We moved to England a mere 18 months ago, and English was not the language we used at home. He was struggling to identify the sounds within words, and was quickly losing his confident manner. He came home telling me that he thought he wasn’t so clever as his friends were finding it easy, while he was really struggling.
I did a heck of a lot of research and, after speaking to David from Easyread for more than an hour, decided to sign up for the system. We haven’t looked back. My son enjoyed the lessons and was showing improvement every day. He got more confident and caught up with his peers very quickly. Best of all, he has developed a passion for reading! Now, 7 years on, our biggest problem is finding books for him to read, as he finishes them very quickly and then asks for something new. His understanding is very good and he has developed a good vocabulary, despite still speaking Afrikaans at home. He has grown in confidence and is now doing well at school. His teacher says he always has a book at hand, which also helps with his behaviour in class.
As we were so impressed with the difference that Easyread has made in our eldest’s life, we were keen to use it for our other children as well.
Our daughter started the program at the age of 4 and started school as “a reader”. This made a huge difference to her approach to school, as she just found everything easy and grew more and more confident every day.
Our youngest have just completed the Easyread program. He also started as a reader in Reception, and now loves reading. He rushes downstairs every morning to do his Easyread. He especially likes reading the books available on the system and is now convinced that he wants to be a “Penguinologist” one day. I don’t doubt that he’ll continue with the lessons even after he has received his remote control helicopter.
All in all, teaching our kids to read has been a pleasurable experience thanks to Easyread. David feels like part of the family as we have so often heard his voice in our living room over the last 6 years. All three of our kids are real “readers”, which I directly attribute to Easyread and its fun lessons. I cannot thank you enough for all your help and support over the years and won’t hesitate to recommend you to everyone whose kids are struggling with learning to read, or who just want to provide some additional support.
However, I would warn that you might need to purchase an extra bookshelf… or three. Either that, or a Kindle :)”
His reading recovery teacher is really impressed with Easyread!
I have noticed a big improvement in JT’s reading (he is starting to read road signs and things around the house without being prompted which is new!!) Also his reading recovery program teacher at school said she spent a few minutes with him (she hasn’t done assessments yet) and was really impressed with the improvement in his reading skills and more importantly his attitude toward reading. He also has told everyone he talks to at school about his “new program that’s helping him read.” I am really pleased with all this and I can’t wait to see what the next few months bring.
