Magical words from my daughter!
Dear David and all at Easyread!
I just wanted to share some magical words from my 8 year old daughter from bedtime tonight…. She’d had her story from her dad – as always – and it was time to sleep. She came out to put the small hall light on and said “can I just read for a bit now?” It’s been nearly two years since she started easy read, she finished last summer, and this year her reading has gone stratospheric:) She’s reading well at her age level, reads for pleasure at home and is trying to compete with her school friends on what she’s reading next!
So I will not be the parent who ever says “put that book away and get to sleep! ” Thanks again Easyread, you really have worked your magic in our house!
–a relieved Mum.
Huge improvement!
Rhys has really benefited from the course and we have seen a huge improvement!
Giggling as he reads…
Dillon’s reading has really taken off! He actually chose to read an Aldo Zelnick book in 2 days! It was wonderful to hear him giggle as he reads!
Our 15-year-old son is now reading
Thanks to Easyread, our 15-year-old son is now reading. As a homeschooling mom, it was heartbreaking to watch our bright boy struggle to master reading. I read to him from when he was a baby and he loved books, but reading simply did not stick. Phonics and frequent practice just led to memorization and guessing. Research led us to study how to open blocked learning gates. After physical exercises and brain training proved effective for him, I searched for a suitable reading program. After 5 months of doing Easyread, our son will actually pick up reading material and read for enjoyment. He also reads chapter books to his younger brother.
The folks at Easyread are serious about helping you succeed. When we were uncomfortable with a chosen story, they were quick to accommodate us. A phone interview led them to advance our son to a more appropriate level. Thanks, Easyread!
Wonderful progress in reading and attitude!
He is making wonderful progress with not only his reading but also his attitude toward reading!
You guys are truly amazing
You guys are truly amazing. A huge thank you to all of you. She is my amazing one and only baby girl and your team has made her start to enjoy reading.
Fluency has greatly improved
Her fluency has greatly improved, spelling of sight words and easier words is better.
…it worked for us!
Reading has suddenly come together for her!
Reading has suddenly come together for Savannah. Last night she was even reading a chapter book (the Junie B. Jones series) and only found a few words a bit hard or unfamiliar. She is quite thrilled, and so is the rest of the family. We will, of course, continue with the lessons. We want her to succeed in spelling, too.
Henry's made HUGE progress!
Henry has made HUGE progress and we love the Easyread program!
He'll now sit down to read on his own!
Hello Easyread Friends,
It has been a little more than a year since Jaylen completed the course and we wanted to give you a status update. It took a little longer than we anticipated, but we finally did get “reading lift off” I think you call it. Jaylen loves to read now, and is currently reading above his grade level!! He will grab a book and sit down to read silently or aloud at home and we are so happy. He loves to read and is even volunteering to read aloud in class(something he would never have done in the past). We wanted to say thank you for a job well done. I don’t think he would have reached this level without the help of Easyread.
Spelling has taken an enormous leap
Avram’s spelling has taken an enormous leap since starting Easyread – pretty much from the start really so perhaps it was mainly a confidence thing. Anyway he is now happy to write and spell and is remembering spellings much more easily.
Confidence greatly improved
Lauren’s confidence in reading has greatly improved. The fluency she is getting better at but is still slow, but she is doing great. We are very satisfied with the program thus far.
Took an exam for the grade above hers!
She just took the National Mythology Exam, which required her to read D’Aulaire’s Greek Mythology (but since August she has read every Greek mythology book she/I could find). The test, published by a Classical Association in the US has long questions and long multiple choice answers to choose from–I think she did really well (I’ll let you know!)–she took the exam for the grade above hers, which was just incredible. I would love to keep her learning spelling–your method works so well!
Improved by 2 grade levels!
Grace’s reading has improved dramatically (2 grade levels)!
Reading much better now.
David so far is doing well, he is reading much better now. He does seem to like to read a bit more.
He has improved so much
Thank you so much …. the Easyread programme has been wonderful for Trent. He has improved so much in his reading.
Very happy with his self confidence
Ryan’s reading is definitely improving, he does sometimes want to guess but he is decoding more and more words. What I am very happy with is his positive attitude with regards to reading and his self confidence when having to read aloud, even when he makes a mistake and we correct him he does not get so upset as in the past.
Almost like a light has turned on
Morgan is doing great. I have seen a lot of progress over the last couple of days. It is almost like a light has turned on. He has moved up a reading level in school. He isn’t to grade level yet, but I think his progress is going to start snowballing. I am very excited for him, and he is proud of himself. He is not having any more difficulty with the text in the stories than he has with the games.
Ability and confidence improved
I am very happy with the Easyread system. We have seen increases in both ability and confidence with reading. I really like the short interactive lessons and the level of engagement he has with them.
“Now I am really good at reading”
Thank you for all your help and the fantastic course which has transformed Seb’s reading so that he is keen, enthusiastic and can read! We are thrilled. He says that Easy Read is the best thing that he learns. After being so desperate when we started it has been such a relief to stop hitting our head against the brick wall as it were and to be making progress and gaining confidence.
Seb would like to say “Thank you for teaching me how to read, now I am really good at reading. I liked the riddles very much. I loved Letter Quest, Fighter mission and Pinball. With the reading it made me really confident. When David spoke to me I was a bit embarrassed but I had a great big smile on my face. I didn’t like rereading the words but it did help me. I would have liked more pictures in the stories. I am looking forward to my own helicopter because it will be my own. Daddy has got one. Thank you for teaching me how to read. from Seb”

The lightbulb has come on!
Brady picked it up! He has been tutoring and with the EasyRead the lightbulb has come on. Thanks for everything
Case Study: Guessing, Poor Handwriting, Tears
Before Easyread, Lydia’s struggles began early. Teachers noticed her reading difficulty right from the start in kindergarten (age 5). Her mother noticed that all of her peers were already reading, but Lydia just couldn’t grasp it. With a lot of effort she could sound out long words, but she stumbled over short common words. Names were impossible. She did a lot of guessing and couldn’t seem to shake the habit. Her writing was also poor; she mixed up d, b, p, g, and q all the time. One time the teacher showed her mother a card where the whole class had signed their names. Every name was legible except Lydia’s. She had managed an “L”, but after that it fell apart. Some marks didn’t even look like letters at all. At the time she was in an expensive private school, but the teachers there didn’t know what to do with her. They kept advising her parents to work on reading more with her at home. But they were already working on it for long stretches of time every night and it just resulted in tears and fights. At one low point, Lydia told her mother that her friends were smart, but she was one of the “dumb kids”.
Her mother found Easyread on the Internet. Everything else she had read online, until Easyread, was depressing. Things like: “expect a lot of hard work to achieve moderate results”. Or, “look into a trade school for her”. A nationally advertised learning center that charged college tuition prices said that “if [Lydia] worked 8 hours at their center every weekend and every day during school breaks, that maybe she could get to 6 months behind grade level in the next year”.
By contrast, Easyread was so encouraging. It seemed expensive at first because it felt like a leap of faith and her mother did not know if it would really work. In retrospect, it was a bargain! The graphics were engaging and the narrator’s English accent was pleasant and soothing. It was a short, manageable session every day, which worked well for Lydia. Lydia liked it from the start and was never reluctant to sit down and work on it. The program seemed to understand her thought processes in a way everyone else missed. And she finally stopped guessing! Of course it was always very exciting to receive a gift in the mail, too!
After Easyread, things started changing for Lydia pretty quickly. After switching her to public school in 1st grade before Easyread, school tested her at about 13% overall (meaning 87% of her peers scored better than her overall). When she was tested shortly after starting Easyread, it rose to 47%. Over the next year it continued to rise up to 97%! She still was not a big reader for enjoyment, but now she could read. She could read the signs when driving down the street. She could read subtitles when she watched a foreign movie.
5 years after Easyread, things have continued to accelerate from that firm foundation. In 5th grade she was invited to join an advanced group at school that took time out weekly to explore a variety of subjects. In 6th grade she was asked to apply for the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program (IB MYP). She did and she was accepted. It is a very advanced project based program that involves a lot of reading and writing reports. She has made all A’s and B’s (all A’s last semester) and is doing great. And her mother sees something now that she always hoped for: Lydia has novels in her room that she has checked out of the library not just for school but for enjoyment! She still has poor handwriting, and her spelling could be better, but computers help with that. And her attitude towards the few holdover issues that remain is totally transformed. Just the other day, her mother proofread something Lydia wrote, and a “d” was swapped out for a “b”. The tears and panic from 5 years earlier were nowhere to be found. She simply shrugged and changed it! She no longer thinks she is dumb. Her mother says, “I am so glad we found Easyread!”
Pleased with her progress
We are pleased with Savannah’s progress with the Easyread System. My greatest satisfaction is that she now likes to read, and does not resist doing the lessons or reading/looking at books. This is a huge change from the fall of 2014.
