Massive decoding improvement

I have another student E who has responded very well to EasyRead. She has made massive improvement with her decoding and is positive towards the lessons. She is reading the EasyRead text fluently at the moment and completes the scramble text page with little support.

Such fabulous stuff!

Hello all,
Just wanted to share some lovely Easyread news with you-Steven told me today in our session completely out of the blue that ER has really helped him with his English and that he was able to plan his English assessment and felt confident to do so.
Saud said that he’s finding his reading a bit easier and Will, who couldn’t / wouldn’t even pick up a reading book back in September has just got 100% in his accelerated reading test.  Such fabulous stuff! 🙂

Two of our year7 (age 12) students have made excellent progress…

Working with Easyread , two of our year7 (age 12) students have made excellent progress. In 5 months their Easyread test levels have improved from reading level 3 and 4  to level 8, and their spelling from level 1 to 2 and level 2 to 4.
Easyread have been very helpful with prompt advice and answers to any questions we had. Most importantly our students have been happy to use Easyread  frequently, with its short sessions  and  games.
Their independent reading and spelling confidence have increased as they enjoyed success.
One improvement we would welcome would be to see Easyread   introduce characters and stories  more suited to older/ mature students, as secondary school pupils can be reluctant to engage with nursery tales and characters.

As a former teacher and headteacher, I wish more children could benefit…

I paid for my two grandsons to take the course, beginning autumn 2012. They were aged 6 and 7 at the time they started. Both were very premature – 8 weeks +. This resulted in basic problems with retained reflexes, poor co-ordination and a family history of dyslexia. One has mixed dominance, requires glasses, speech therapy. The other appeared immature particularly with his movement. He has tinted glasses for school work. Support from Easyread clarified some of the issues and offered a way forward.

For them Easyread was the platform into reading. They have both learned very good phonic approaches to breaking down words. This transferred easily to their spelling. While it took time and commitment and they are not yet reading quite at their chronological age they are confident to approach reading and spelling, work hard in school and remain motivated and making very good progress. We are confident that this coming session in school will see them building on very solid foundations and finally able to reach their potential.

They enjoyed an outing to the “Borders Book Festival” in June and interacted well with all the authors.

We are impressed with the “Easyread” programme and the interaction with the staff there. The boys motivation levels were kept high with the games and the surprise gifts. As a former teacher and headteacher, I wish more children could benefit from their strategies because they are successful.

Regards

Mari

Olivia and her mum are thrilled!

I just thought I’d share this with you. I had a lovely email from Olivia`s mum this evening. Olivia`s reading was assessed at school and she has gone up a whole level to 5C! This is much higher than her age expected level.
Both Olivia and her mum are thrilled!

Lovely expression!

Olivia is reading much more fluently and with lovely expression. She decodes words well and will persevere to figure out new words.
