Rowan received his electronic fart machine…

Rowan received his electronic fart machine a couple of days ago. He is absolutely delighted with it, thankyou!
He is now on level three and getting more confident with every lesson.

Just thought you should know how well Lucy is…

Just thought you should know how well Lucy is doing with her reading. She continues to find longer words hard and some long vowels e.g. ape, organ, icecream and oak tricky, but has grown in confidence at jungle monkey and letter quest.
Many thanks, Juliet

We are delighted with the help it has given…

We are delighted with the help it has given to oliver’s reading. Obviously the contract is for a year which means it ends on 6th may. Can you confirm that no further payments will be deducted after Feb?
Also can we continue to log in until May and if so can we discuss the current level Oliver is on. His day to day reading is now so good that decoding by easyread pictures is now becoming confusing and uninteresting for him and is not helping much. He wants to read “real words” and do all the spelling games. Over to you. Many thanks

Julie

Saffron is enjoying the programme…

Saffron is enjoying the programme, we do it every afternoon when we come in from school. She gets changed and goes straight to the computer for me to sit with her! I’m hoping that by the end of the programme she feels the same way about her school homework!

Thank you,

Diane

Tom's optometrist was impressed today…

Tom’s optometrist was impressed today by the effect that this had had on his eyes.

I will write more when Tom’s back at school on 11 January, but overall I’m very happy with his progress.
Best wishes

Toby is definitely reading better…

Toby is definitely reading better than before. Once we get him to read his intonation and expression is lovely to listen to now after years of monotone reading.

Amy's interest in reading has really picked up…

Amy’s interest in reading has really picked up since she started Easyread. She just finished reading a 100 page chapter book ( to the family) which took her several weeks but had us rivetted. She read it quite well and seems to have a whole different attitude to the reading. My hope is she will one day get as much enjoyment out of reading as I do!

so far so good…

so far so good..  Mollie has learnt the characters really well and seems to be coping with blending much better these days…
so the system seems to be working for us at the moment…. she enjoys the monkey game and seems surprisingly good at it… there is normally a bit of resistance to do the 2 pages of reading , but she is better at the second page without the letters which is interesting… and the games at the end, not only seem to be helping with her confidence to sound out letters and spell, but also in using a mouse and navigating around a computer screen..

personally I love having a structure, and a time limited session as it gives me the confidence that we are not pushing her too hard, or being too sporadic in our attempts….

from a support perspective, I have only great feedback for you and the team.. emails are responded to very quickly, instructions are clear, and the whole concept of espionage and prizes is a great motivator.

Harry is still enjoying Easyread….

Harry is still enjoying Easyread. He has his favourite games and there is only one he doesn’t like which is mushroom picker. This is because it is easy to make mistakes even when you have read the word correctly. Harry takes a long time to decode the characters in the text but is doing well. The short amount of time needed for each lesson is good because he gets bored easily. The reward presents have kept his enthusiasm up and they always seem to come just at the right time.

Tates spelling has improved from…

Before the course…

Before the course, school assessed Francis to have a reading age of a few months below his age. When Francis was at Easyread lesson 210, his reading age was reassessed at school and found to be 15 months ahead of his age. We are very pleased with this results. Francis did Easyread every morning before school and stayed motivated through out. So a big thank you to Dave ad his team.
All the best.

On a VERY positive note…

On a VERY positive note:

When Cal was 8 or 9 he completed the DDAT course which helped with his reading a lot but, as he’s grown up he seems to have fallen behind with his reading again.

This was highlighted when he took a Critical Thinking AS level at age 15. he failed because he was relying on his reader too much. He resolved to improve his reading and we found Easyread.

In the short space of time we have been doing Easy read I have noticed an improvement in Cal’s word recognition but it was probably best exemplified when he took a recent test.

We are qualified to referee football both here and in America and we have officated at a tournament over there on several occasions. Each year American referees have to re-certify which means that they spend 5 hours doing online modules and then take a one hour written examination.

In previous years Cal has had a reader and has been getting over 90% each time. This year he opted to read for himself and got 87%! Proof indeed of the progress that he has made – I say this because questions about football rules are always complicated by the attempt to describe a playing situation and are never easy to follow.

If you need an anecdote to prove it is working please feel free to use this one!

I just want you to know that…

I just want you to know that Miranda feels she has come to the end of the road. She feels she just wants to get on without Easyread.I feel she has improved her reading and her confidence and i am so glad i signed her up to the programme. With many thanks,Juli

Benjamins spelling and reading has come on so well…

Benjamins spelling and reading has come on so well recently I have asked the teacher to give him harder words. He has also moved to a more diffcult type of reading book though still strictly on the same level. He is readin some of it at school and is able to tell me what happened (things that can not be gained from the few pictures in the book!!)

We have found the course helpful so far…

We have found the course helpful so far. Courtney never complains when I ask her to log on. She is confident with sounding out using he pictures – the only thing she is finding s little frustrating is that she likes to sound out the word and then click on the space to see the word also and the voice over tells her she shouldn’t do this.
Her confidence with the lessons and in herself has really improved. I have found your support wonderful so far and feel relieved to feel like we are finally getting there.

Thanks, Nicole.

William is enjoying his easy read sessions…

William is enjoying his easy read sessions and has grasped the concept of decoding the story well. He can do it much quicker than I can! As the stories only have the symbols I am confident that he is now not using his existing reading knowledge. We have noticed an increased confidence in his approach to reading and writing.

Thanks for all the support

Caroline

It has been a pleasure to do easy read…

It has been a pleasure to do easy read. Sometimes i did’nt want to do it but it has realy helpt me. i started of getting realy cross with having to do easyread but now I dont min my favorit game is eggy because it realy helps my eyes move with out moving my head I will realy miss easyread but i am really prowed of my self all my family is so prowed of me my mum usually read with me because she is home more than my dad i loved working on easyread but now i have to go  i realy like you daved thank you for all the work you’v put into it i realy like all the games you prived for all the children that do easyread i am realy confidant with reading so thank you for all the sporrt you’v given me i will miss you from sopphie

Dear David and team.
By now you will have received an email from Sophie with the final codeword. I asked her to type what she felt and was amazed by the length of e she decided to send, she was almost in tears when she got the message about reaching the end, she was so happy and proud of herself. Apart from 2 words she has spelled everything herself… you can see the improvement in her writing for yourselves! Her handwriting is improving gradually but I think that will be a longer haul.
I want so much to thank you for what this means to both Sophie and the whole family. Reading was such a barrier for her and so stressful for us all, we could see that she was struggling but she became so resistant we were unable to help her. It was so painful to see her so distressed and watch the enthusiasm and confidence being knocked out of her so fast. Once the initial novelty of the system wore off we did have rocky patches during which I had to be the bad guy and make her do the lessons, and sometimes I had to resort to bribery; however the “codewords” were excellent incentive and often managed to nudge a reluctant learner on! Sophie began Easyread last February at that time she was graded as a SATS 1B for her reading, well below what her intelligence would have suggested, in the 10 months she’s been doing the system she progressed to a level 2A by July and has just been assessed as a 3A now…. if I hadn’t been on the journey with her I dont think I would have believed it possible. She is also getting more support through school which is adding to her confidence, but over all even more than the reading ability (and enjoyment she gets from it) I want to thank you for making us a less stressed family and giving Sophie the chance to relax a little and not have to go through school struggling.
I have told other parents about your system when they’ve mentioned literacy issues and I will definitely continue to do so.
I can’t tell you what your system means to me, thank you for opening the door to reading for Sophie.
Warmest regards.
Judy

Thank you…

Thank you for your contribution to her progress in her reading ability.
Thank you ,
Alida

Thank you for believing in your system

Thank you for believing in your system enough to have stuck it out through the developement stage – it is a wonderful system that has changed my child’s reading.

Just thought I would let you know that…

Just thought I would let you know that Ben breezed through lesson 19 with the word highlighter facility switched off.

He was a bit alarmed when he saw the all white page but decided to give it a go and then just romped through.

Not only that, but he was reading for sense as he went along, as well as decoding, and by the time he got to the bit where Fred’s shed became a palace, he was so excited that he was standing up. Then he went to fetch his Dad and tell him all about it.

He was very disappointed not to be able to do the next page of the story….so I think we can conclude he was enjoying himself!
