Parent Reviews of Easyread

Our most recent reviews:

I have had a long chat with Lily and we have decided to finish Easyread.

I have had a long chat with Lily and we have decided to finish Easyread. I listened to her read a book today that she had never read before and she is doing so well that I think we can stop. Her spelling had also improved and we intend to carry on working on her reading and spelling every day.
I wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you for all that Easyread has done for Lily. It has improved her confidence so much that since Christmas she is like a different child. She has gone from struggling with nearly every word to a fluent and happy reader who is finally reading for pleasure.
Please could you just confirm that you won’t take another payment from my account?
Thank you again and I wont hesitate in recommending you to other people.

I came across EasyRead on the Internet after feeling despair…

I came across EasyRead on the Internet after feeling despair about my son Ben’s reading. His school was providing his twin brother, Adam, with extra one-on-one tuition for his own reading. But unfortunately for Ben, he wasn’t given this support as he was considered “not bad enough at reading”. This didn’t mean he was good! Indeed, Ben struggled with his readers each day. I was worried he would start to hate it, especially seeing how Adam had progressed and was now a better reader than Ben. Then along came EasyRead. Ben took to it like a duck to water and was happily repeating the symbols and able to pronouce 3 syllable words fluently. I think it helps we don’t do a lot of electronic games in our house. Ben was incredibly keen to do EasyRead each day – I never once had to coerce him to do it. He wanted to do two lessons a time! His teachers now call him a \”decoding machine\” – he met the requirements for his year (grade 2 Australia) for decoding by the end of Term 1. His comprehension still needs work but he is able to tackle words with confidence whereas before he would struggle.
When we started EasyRead I wanted to achieve two goals:
1.To get him to an aceptable level of reading for school. This was done by lesson 120.
2. To get him to tackle chapter books on his own. This was a pretty big ask for EasyRead I thought. Well I am thrilled to report todays shopping trip was for a Roald Dahl book, “The Twits”.
Throughout our time using EasyRead the support provided could not be faulted. I was grateful for the personal care provided by the team. They clearly have a passion to get kids to read. The games and certificates sent to Ben were spot on – they obviously know what 7 year old boys like! Ben haunts the letterbox when he knows a codeword prize is coming. His certifiates are proudly displayed on his pinup board.
After 223 lessons, I am happy to call it a day. We have achieved beyond all expectations and have a reader in the house!

cheers jacki house

Dear David and team, I have some awesome news…

Dear David and team,

I have some awesome news. Liam did his DRA test (reading test) at school, his teach wrote me specially to tell me Liam results. Liam has gone from a reading level of 28 in November of last year to reading level 40. He also did extremely well on his comprehension test and has earned himself a C in reading.

Liam is extremely please with himself and has had a smile on his face for the last two days. His teacher has commended him and the effort that we have put into Liam’s massive improvement.

I would never had thought that we would get Liam’s reading to improve that dramatically.

Thank you for your help to enable Liam to catch up to his peers.

Forever in your debt.

ps: I am thanking you so much I would die for you love liam.

Lara has found this course helpful and…

Lara has found this course helpful and her reading has improved. As parents, we are happy with the progress Lara has made and we can see how her reading and spelling has improved.
We liked the way easy read was set up on the site, it was easy to access and use. I would recommend easy read to any parent.
Thank you, S

…his reading skills have really taken off.

We don’t really find that Tyler struggles more with the text over the games – he does find the character text a little more challenging but his reading skills have really taken off

Thanks

Amazing support – beyond expectations

Amazing support- above and beyond my expectations. The prizes and the feeling of confidence form Addie is beyond my expectations. The attention to detail as well. 15 minute sessions. Prizes. Backed by science. Very smart approach. Individual attention and conferences/support. Fun!!!!!

We’re very happy. Theo is clearly improving in his reading skills. His teacher has noticed a difference too. Still no sign of him picking up the non phonetic stuff automatically, but I appreciate it’s still early days. If you think it would be a good idea to introduce digraphs to him in a more explicit way, for example by singling out the associated characters (eagle looking regal for ‘ea’ etc), then let me know.
Many thanks!

Major progress by Lesson 60

We saw major progress with Colin by lesson 60. His spelling is also improving but at a slower rate.

I also wanted to mention that we were running errands in our truck..

I also wanted to mention that we were running errands in our truck today and Theo picked up a magazine (he typically just looks at the pictures) and began reading the jokes out of it to his brother and sister. I was blown away, and he actually surprised himself. It was such a beautiful moment. He was beaming.
Language in this instance fall short, as i cannot find the words to express how amazing this is for he and i both. Thank you

E is reading well and we’re very happy with her progress.

E is reading well and we’re very happy with her progress. She’s reading chapter books now and although she doesn’t always initiate reading on her own, she’s more willing to do it when we ask her to. We think we’ll have her do easyread until she gets the helicopter, which she’s very excited about. What is the number of lessons she has to reach before she could get the code for the helicopter?

Many thanks!

I feel we are now seeing some definite progress…

I feel we are now seeing some definite progress with Cameron’s reading outside of Easyread. Cameron himself says he now finds school reading much easier ‘because of Easyread’. One of the main differences is he rarely attempts to guess words now, and it is great to see that the decoding he has learnt through easyread is now being used in his other reading too. I feel confident that he will continue to improve.

Kind regards
K

I just wanted to let you know some exciting news.

I just wanted to let you know some exciting news.  We are now reading at the top of the class and at 6 and a half, reading at an 8.5 – 9 year old level.  Just a short time ago we were having trouble even picking up a reader with a battle every night.  It was such a challenge, especially for a child who had loved books since birth.  He now picks up books to read by himself and also reads to his sister which is so sweet!  Amazing, and I completely contribute this success to Easyread.

Wow! When we signed up for EasyRead, I had no idea we’d be getting spelling out of the deal. What a wonderful surprise!
I was stunned when our son just submitted a complete sentence with accurate spelling to the latest writing prompt!

Still very impressed with the program

I’m still very impressed with the program and the improvement in Katea’s reading. Her teacher too has expressed that her reading has improved.

She couldn’t do this last year…

Lily is doing really well with her reading and says she is definitely hearing a little voice in her head when she reads silently. I am so happy with her progress. Her spelling is much better too and has been noticed by several people including teachers.

She has just done her Year 4 tests and although she struggled with some of the maths she could read every question which she couldn’t do last year and it really held her back. Her reading test went really well for her!!! I was pleased her school let her have a little extra time beforehand to read through her tests because of her diagnosis.

I was really pleased that her answers to the survey were what I would have hoped she would say and didn’t alarm me at all. In fact I would suggest that her confidence is growing.

Anyway we have no intention of stopping at the moment as she is doing so well with it.

Thank you for all your help and support.

Review of Easyread, at the end

The program resolved what we set out to address, she was missing phonemic sounds and the program/pictures helped her with that. The pictures served as a good tool to fill in the sounds that were missing and once that was addressed, she read more fluently. She did not love the program at the beginning, but she loved the games! So, to get through the reading and be rewarding with a fun game was motivation. The latter part of the program was more fun, because she could see how much her reading had improved and hear how much more fluent she had become. Thank you!

Learning his spellings with ease

We have noticed a significant improvement in Charlie’s reading. His teacher has also noticed this. He is also working through his school work quicker and pushing himself to do more than is required. He is learning his spellings with more ease.

Review of Easyread

I am delighted (and relieved) to have found the Easyread system while searching for help for S. We were already aware that she had a problem with her vision but had no idea of the extent to which it was impacting her ability to comprehend the books and reading material she was bringing home from school. After reading the detailed and helpful information provided on the website it became clear that S was sight reading. Over the past few years we had spent hours practising phonics and reading and becoming more frustrated. The amount of time and effort we were putting in was not producing results. We are now six weeks into the the course which S is thoroughly enjoying and it is wonderful to see her confidence increasing. We never have to keep asking her to begin the daily session and we now have a high five ritual as each one is completed.

I nearly decided to reject Easyread as an option thinking that if the sessions were short and fun they couldn’t possibly work. We started with the free introductory offer and seeing how engaging the sessions were I felt we should give it a try. So far I am sure we have made the right decision. Thanks to David and the team for developing an alternative and fun approach to learning. As others have said we would love to see a maths course!

She is 6 and 9 months so her reading is now a little ahead of her age.

Her reading however has come on in leaps and bounds. She is fluently reading Gold book band books and has progressed happily onto free reading (rainbow fairy and horrid henry) she is expressing herself more freely in the written word but her spelling is still not great. She is 6 and 9 months so her reading is now a little ahead of her age.

Feedback 6 weeks in…

Macy is doing very well. We enjoy the program. She finds the lessons enjoyable and easy and is excited to do them. I enjoy the slow steady progress as doing 10 minutes or so each day fits into our busy schedule. She is gaining confidence in herself. This is most evidenced by her beginning to try reading on her own in her environment…she was trying to read the guide on the television and sounding out the words to tell me what was on…in the past she would have asked and if prompted to try to read it herself would have said “I can’t read”. Now she is trying!

We will do the places name game. I was having her skip it because it seemed the names were cities or areas in other countries and not words I was familiar with.

Thanks!

Cancellation message after 136 lessons…

Thanks so much for all your help; at this point, we would like to stop (at least for the time being) Easyread. Our son is reading at grade level now and is doing well and is now finally getting a lot of additional support at school to assist in his weak areas which is also helping him. We are so grateful to Easyread – my son literally knew nothing but sight words at the beginning of this process; it is remarkable he came so far.
Can you please cancel our account now? Thank you very much,
Amy Clipston

Made a HUGE difference for him

Levi is doing very well and has improved his reading scores significantly. We are very grateful for the help and encouragement from the folks at Easyread and for the program itself! It has made a HUGE difference for Levi’s word decoding and reading comprehension.

Confidence increased, frustration reduced markedly

Really pleased with the eye tracking as that made a big change to her reading outside of easy read and she is now reading large chunks of text with good accuracy overall. Confidence has increased and frustration reduced markedly.
