I know Amy has been very hit and miss with her lessons.. it is nothing to do with the lessons themselves but more a product of her now being so confident with her reading that she seems not to have the same motivation as previously plus I started a new job 3 months ago and am less vigilent with encouraging/reminding her.
At school she is doing very well and is now actively reading at home… e.g. currently reading Harry Potter before sleep and she finished a few other chapter books recently.

Lewys is making steady progress and gaining confidence…
Lewys is making steady progress and gaining confidence. He enjoys the reading and is working through the images to sound out the words. He loves the jungle game at the beginning!
We are very happy with the programme. We like the short but regular approach, which builds up confidence. Lewys enjoys doing Easyread, which can’t be bad given that we have been doing it for nearly 6 weeks. Thank you.

Tegan seems to be progressing really well…
Tegan seems to be progressing really well. I’ve found her daily reading improving greatly. Certainly her confidence has grown and she’s not as reluctant to engage in the reading process. I’ve found that she’s beginning to employ the decoding technique in her daily reading. It’s by no means perfect yet but an awful lot better than it was. With regard to when she is doing easyread, I don’t feel that she finds the words in the story any harder than in the games. That seems to have balanced itself out. Also, she is still very enthusaistic about the course.
Thanks again for everything,
Regards,
Niamh.
Luke is still enjoying easy read…
Luke is still enjoying easy read. he never complains about doing it. he reads books on his own every night in bed for about 30min with out complaining. I notice that he will occasionally say an incorrect word when reading in bed. he usually self corrects. the are small words like “the” for “a” and “how” for “who”. it may be that it is at the end of the day and he is tired. just thought I would tell you about it in case it means more to you than it does to me.
thanks,
jen
Pluses: The program seems to be more…
Pluses: The program seems to be more evidence-based and theoretically driven than some others I have looked at, in other words there seem to be sound reasons for doing the activities. A lot of support is offered from the staff at easyread. Rewards keep the child’s motivation up, as do games. Synthetic phonics allow Finn to read more independently than would normally occur with a book.
Minuses: Only minor, Australian phonics sometimes differ from English phonics. Sometimes David’s voice is a bit quiet although our speakers are at full volume.
If I think of more I’ll let you know.
Regards,
Karen
Amy's reading has vastly improved with Easyread…
Amy’s reading has vastly improved with Easyread, and as such she is now reading books out of choice. The current fave is the Wimpy kid series. Which is just fantastic! -Claire |
I couldn't be happier…
Andrew has now completed the Easyread course and I couldn’t be happier. All the problems that he had before, refusing to do work because he knew he couldn’t spell and refusing to read any books except comic books, have gone completely. He is now a confident, happy boy. He really enjoys reading and I am so pleased because he has such a wonderful imagination and now knows the pleasure that getting drawn into a book can give. I would not hesitate to recommend your course to anyone in a similar position to ours. Many thanks to you all.

I have really enjoyed doing Easyread with you…
I have really enjoyed doing Easyread with you. I used to hate doing spellings and reading but now I am really confident in my spellings and Mum has to nag me to put my light out and go to sleep at night because I love reading in my bed. I am reading ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid – The Last Straw’ and ‘The Chronicles of Avantia’. Thank you so much.

Holly came home today glowing about how good her day at school had been…
Holly came home today glowing about how good her day at school had been. One point she mentioned later was that she had been asked to read the first paragraph of the hobbit, without holding the book so she couldn’t follow the text with her finger, and had read if fluently. She read it again for me and even with hiccups (which I think was excitement) she read it without any problems with the wording or expression. She is now in her bed continuing to read with her new Easyread light attached to the hobbit. To some people this may be only a little step but to me it’s a huge one at exactly the right time. Sometimes a little ray of hope can mean a great deal.

We have been doing this course over the summer…
We have been doing this course over the summer holidays and I can say that the fact that I have managed to get Ollie to do any of the lessons is a great sign ! we took a little break whilst on holiday as we didn’t have an internet connection in our apartment and getting back into it was a little tough but after 3 days Ollie has got his confidence back. He is getting much better at breaking words down into their sounds and attempting to read words that he wouldn’t normally try. He uses both the pictures and words so I think that is a good sign too. He is heading back to school on 7th and I think that will help him to focus on this system. As I mentioned earlier , I have struggled to get Ollie to read the school books he was given , but I have managed to get him to do this on the whole which is great from my point of view. The only thing that Ollie really doesn’t like is the Mushroom Picker….not sure why, but he gets quite upset if this game comes up …is there anyway we can avoid it? He’s just flown through this last lesson and was really confident and really enjoyed it , I am hopeful about the next 6 weeks and look forward to it impacting his ‘normal’ reading. I never realised what a slog it is to teach a child to read. I often have my 3 year old on my lap at the same time so I’m hoping he’s picking this up too and he’ll be easier to teach. I feel sorry for children who have no help from their parents……I’m pretty patient and keen but even I get tested by Ollie sometimes…..then I remember the spy thing and say we are learning the code together and that really helps!! Sorry for the ramble, hope that’s what you needed . Let me know if I’ve left anything out. Regards, Katherine
I am very happy to have finished Easyread…
I am very happy to have finished Easyread. I’ve gone to Level White at school which is one level away to ‘free reading’ and i’ve only just finished Year 2. I am a good reader in the class even though I’m one of the younger children. I think Easyread has helped me a lot. Thank-you. Lizzie, age 7
Lastly, he starts college this week…
Lastly, he starts college this week to commence his Diploma in Applied Science (Forensics) which will keep him quiet for a couple of years.
The boost that gaining confidence in his reading and riting has given him is trememndous – he ended up with the euivalent of 11 grade C and 2 grade B passes at GCSE. Quite a turn around in 8 months after looking set to struggle to reach 5.
As well as the possibility of a Forensics career or similar he is being courted by the local Poluce (for whom he is a Cadet) and Marks and Spencer for their Management Trainee Scheme (he’s been working for them over the holidays and is continuing part time during college).
We feel that all of that is due to the boost that your amazing programme has given him.

I must say that I have noticed…
I must say that I have noticed a great deal of improvement in Millie’s confidence with her reading. Only yesterday she suddenly decided that she would read her “home” reading book (Pinnochio full version) out loud to an audience. Previously this would have been her own worst nightmare.

Connor's confidence and fluency when reading…
Connor’s confidence and fluency when reading in Easyread has improved a lot. Our belief in the programe has calmed us both down and I believe that we will see him improve in leaps and bounds. The stress around his reading has vanished!
We have the easyread characters everywhere at home and a set at school to help him there. He asks me if he can do his Easyread every day, which is amazing in itself.
I appreciate the emails I get from you, as his book reading improvement is minimal and I get anxious (he doesn’t) it is a great reminder to me to trust the programme, understand the dynamics that we are laying down the foundations and the building will appear!
We believe easyread is an answer to our prayers. I have been spreading the word and would love to see this active in the schools. I have been showing the principal at Connor’s school. So far so good.
Thank you for creating this programme for all the trouble readers sake!
Sincerely
Amanda

I think that Easyread is having a positive effect on Matthew’s confidence and he is thoroughly enjoying his daily short sessions on the computer and receiving your Prizes! I also feel really supported when I receive the messages from you and know that I can guide Matthew accordingly. Many thanks.

Bradley is doing very well….
Bradley is doing very well. He runs to the computer each morning to do his reading work. He seems to be understanding the process/system well. Things are getting harder for Bradley, but not too hard. He hasn’t needed my help up to this point. Thank you,
-Jennifer
I've found the course so far very simple and easy to follow…
I’ve found the course so far very simple and easy to follow. Alex’s level of confidence in his own ability to read has soared, which for me is the biggest result from doing the Easyread course. He reminds me if we haven’t done Easyread that day rather than run away and cry, which is what he did when I asked to sit down and read before. He loves all computer games so the games at the end of the lessons are very popular particularly pinball and letter quest. This appeals to Boys so well.
I wish I started him on this course ages ago as it has taken away a huge source of stress in our family particularly as Alex’s older sister is a brilliant reader and teased him about his problem. Now she is a little bit jealous that he gets prizes through the post. Thanks for everything so far.

I am very pleased with Marc's progress and attitude to reading…
I am very pleased with Marc’s progress and attitude to reading. There is a huge difference. I also am not worried about his guessing as he is trying to read things like cereal packages etc., which he would not have done before. He is able to read the library book he brought home from school this week quite easily. Many thanks for looking after us. I find you are very accommodating for the slower learner.

Both Reuben and Abby have completed the course and are now reading!!
Abby is very confident and the ‘light has switched on’ in just the last 2 weeks or so. She is reading Harry Potter with confidence and strategies and is gaining in reading confidence each day which is impacting her writing and spelling too. Easyread has been my safety net and my life line.
I have to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support. It has been honest and real and it has ‘done what it said it would do’. Its been a long and tough road but the letters, prizes, emails explaining what to expect at each stage has meant I have always trusted you and felt like we were working together as a team. When we weren’t ready to stop at the end of the official course I was so reassured that you were with me for what may have been the long haul and that you weren’t just a ‘production line’ which we could fall off the end without achieving. I honestly believed you saw my children as individuals who would need different lengths of time to get to the place where they ‘flew’- this was such a comfort.
This feels like a sad time in one way but also so exciting and encouraging, as a home educating mum it will revolutionise my teaching next year to have them both reading. Thank you again for being just what we needed when we needed it and for providing a course which has truely changed our lives.
-Clare
I love your program…
I love your program. I have seen progress in both of my childrens reading abilities. My son has changed his tune about reading. He is more confident and finds reading more enjoyable than before. Neither of my children complain about doing their Easyread lesson. They feel like David knows them and is watching them while they do their work. They love all the “spy gear” and look forward to the prizes. I love the length of the lessons (the perfect length to accomplish one lesson a day). I feel like you guys are very supportive and are very much a part of our journey. Thank you!
