Parent Reviews of Easyread

Our most recent reviews:

This has just arrived from C’s teacher.

Dear Easy Read (David),

Thank you for your program. I did say I would let you know when we have seen some change in the phone conversation recently. This has just arrived from C’s teacher.

Dear Vanessa,

Celebration point!
C scored 723 on his Lexile test today; that is a 523 point rise since his last test, and seven times the average student growth this year!

We still need to improve a bit, but I wanted to share this good news with you, and again express my thanks.

Kind regards
Vanessa

The lessons arent only helping him with reading but also with the way he tackles other everyday task…

Hi I just wanted to message to say how impressed I am with Clark and his how he’s getting on. we are finding the spy gagets book really interesting.
The lessons arent only helping him with reading but also with the way he tackles other everyday task, he seems to have more patience and is sleeping better. I am also enjoying having one-two-one time with him. Something Im trying to do with all my children during the day, even if it is only 10 minutes each
Thank you C

We have loved our time using Easy read and Sam has really progressed…

We have loved our time using Easy read and Sam has really progressed, however if you look at the usage stats we are finding it incredibly difficult to fit this in at the moment. Because of this it is probably best for us to cancel as it is quite a cost and we are not making the best use of this. Im not sure on how the cancellation will work but if you could advise me that would be great.

Once again the program has been really helpful for Sam and his confidence has really increased, so thank you!

Kind regards,

N

Another amazing positive we have got from this is…

Another amazing positive we have got from this is that he actually listens to me when we do this (He fights me every step of the way with his writing). He clicked green tonight before he said the word and I said ‘Noooo too quick, what was the word?’ He didn’t know. He felt terrible and wanted to go back, and that’s a real first for us on reading cockiness. He then handed me the mouse. Also, we did a repeat and he couldn’t read the word, he guessed and guessed. Now we are getting to the trickier levels he is really starting to realise he needs to get his brain in gear and try his absolute best.

I have also already noticed a small improvement in spelling. He is starting to try to think and ask rather than just throw down some letters like he did before. Honestly, this is massive for us, and I know it’s just the beginning of the process, but I am now so filled with hope that this will really help Harry with his whole process of getting words down on paper.

She actually reads signs when we are out and about!

We are really happy with what Easyread has done for Luna and her confidence to read and her want to read is improving daily.  She actually picks signs out to read when we are out and about and around the house (on TV) etc.

She is now in the top reading group in her class and reads for pleasure –  FOR PLEASURE!!

Easyread has been brilliant for Elsa. She is now in the top reading group in her class and reads for pleasure –  FOR PLEASURE!!! We are really thrilled and extremely grateful for what Easyread has done for her and she has achieved what we set out for – and more. With so many thanks to you and your team for this brilliant programme. I hope you can reach many many more “reluctant readers” with this wonderful tool-kit.

Such a wonderful touch!

I forgot to mention the prizes. He was absolutely chuffed to bits to receive the spy glasses in the post, and addressed to him. This is such a wonderful touch, and I cannot believe I forgot to mention it!

My son earned the highest score he’s ever received on a reading test at school!

I did not want to leave before taking the time to thank you for this program and how it has transformed our son’s reading ability. I found you almost by accident. I was frustrated with the continued lack of growth we were seeing in our son’s reading and how the school never seemed to change its approach even though it was clear that approach was not working for our son. When I googled alternative reading help and saw the description of one of your successful pupils, I was amazed that it seemed to describe my son to a T! I made my husband read the description too and he was equally amazed. Someone had seen a reader like our son and had developed an approach just for him! And so we bit the bullet and jumped in and we are so grateful we did. Last week he earned the highest score he’s ever received on a reading test at school! And he actually gravitates towards longer chapter books these days when before he would choose the easiest picture books he could find to read. He has more confidence when he reads and understands more of what he reads than ever before. His ability to decode successfully has increased his vocabulary and language skills. Thank you for your work in developing this program. It was a financial stretch for us, but worth every penny and I am so glad we did it. Best wishes to all of you at the Easy Read program. Thank you for making your program available to kids across the pond here in the USA and for the phone calls and support and recognizing that kids who struggle are not less intelligent than others, they simply need a different approach to learning. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!

A message from Hugo’s teacher

I also wanted to send through a bit of feedback. Hugo’s reading was tested today for the first time since starting Easyread (he commenced the trial in the last week of term, then had two weeks holiday). His teacher was a bit hesitant when I first spoke to her about starting your program, I think mostly because she was worried about overwhelming Hugo. Today I received the following message from her:

“Hi G,

You are definitely onto a winner! This afternoon I did a running record to test Hugo’s reading level.
WOW – totally different child
He went up 2 reading levels to LEVEL 9!! J
– So keen and willing to read me (even ignored an episode of the Magic School Bus that was playing in the background)
– Interacting and engaging with story as he read making connections –(the story was about a clever little dinosaur which he loved)
– Showed great comprehension (able to answer both literal and inferential questions)
– Developing fluency – not so much R-O-B-O-T reading and the more he read, the more he got into a more natural rhythm
– Using great strategies to read unknown words, sounding words out and he either got it or if not, was very close. Using his understanding of the story to make predictions. The word was ‘forest’. He sounded out f-o-r then used the picture to work out forest.
So proud of Hugo!!”

I think I can safely say that we won’t be asking for our money back! He has exceeded my expectation already. I can’t wait to see what he can do after 90 lessons!

Cheers,
G

WANTING to read!

Thought you might like to know…we had a playdate recently and the mum lent me 2 books from her child’s collection. I hadn’t even realised how many “series” were out there now. She read Dork Diaries fairly recently. She just asked for some books (omg I actually got in trouble for not having “good books” for her), so on the weekend we went and bought the box set of the Weir Doh series. So far she has read one and started the next! So definitely progress, I just realised she’s turning the corner on reading for pleasure! Although Netflix still wins, the fact she read in the supermarket trolley whilst I pushed and shopped (wasn’t about to say No to her WANTING to read!), and when we got broadband installed other day and net was down she got out the 2nd book. And she’s getting into the ‘read in bed before lights out’ thing. Her school reports do not suggest she is behind at all except for punctuation and paragraphs, no biggie. Cheers!

His reading has certainly taken off (Lesson 45)

His reading has certainly taken off. He has started reading me a couple of chapters of some of the Barrington-Stoke ‘Little Gems’ books everyday. Last week he read me ‘Grandpa was an Astronaut’ by Jonathan Meres .This week he is reading ‘The Castle in the Field’ by Michael Morpurgo.  We trade stories. He reads to me, and then I read him a chapter of ‘The Pheonix and the Carpet!

Tremendous improvement in 48 lessons

These last 48 lessons have made a tremendous improvement. When we first started easyread because Ambers teacher had expressed concern that she was loosing confidence at school. She is obviously bright and could see all the other kids able to read and she was not able to even sound out words.Although she is only 5, her teacher is pretty certain she is dyslexic or perhaps with ADHD (both of which run in our family)The most important thing for me is that she is happy and this was beginning to effect her confidence socially, which was perhaps the biggest concern for me. Her school have been hugely supportive and even have a big laminated printout of all the easyread characters for Amber to use in class when she gets a bit distracted.

I am so happy to say that, that after 48 easyread lessons, Amber is totally over this lack of confidence. She seems much happier and her friendships are stronger as well. I got her school report yesterday – here is what her teacher said about her reading and writing this term:

“Amber has made progress with her reading and phonics. She loves to write in the role play area and often chooses to do so freely in the class diary and writing book. The work she has been doing at home has made all the difference to her reading, giving her so much more confidence and a desire to give reading a go. It has been wonderful to see her blossom in this way.”

Thank you all so much and please feel free to use my testimonial wherever you like.

I have hope, thank you so much!

We just finished Gunner’s second lesson and he has a smile on his face and said “This is fun”! No tears. I have hope, thank you so much!

There has been a huge improvement in Harry’s reading and general ‘give-a-go’ attitude.

There has been a huge improvement in Harry’s reading and general ‘give-a-go’ attitude. At lesson 90 I was slightly concerned that he was still trying to guess some words but I have to say that now as we have hit lesson 100 there has been a huge leap for us. He is reading things on the screen and on the TV and when we are out and about without any prompting – this has never happened to us before!
Harry will start to bring home-readers home as part of his homework from tomorrow so that will be an awesome way for him to see that he can do it.

My daughter wants to read books on her own!

Firstly I just want to thank you as this program has been fabulous. My daughter is 6 and is now reading above grade level. It is great because she has Irlen and dyslexia and I have no doubts her success is down to this program. The reason I want to stop the program is because my daughter now prefers to read other books in her hand. She wants to stop as she has gotten bored of the program (Please take this as a compliment). She can read now and sound out any tricky words, so I think its job complete. We are reading each day but it is usually from her own library.

Recently had some amazing news…

We have just recently had some amazing news. Holly has passed her year 1 phonic screening test. Not just passed it, but smashed it- gaining 38-40 correct. She has just been assessed generally with her reading and the teacher has said she is now at national expected for her age (working at). The SENCO and teacher have been totally baffled with her progress. Holly has caught up in 5 months, this is down to the easyread system and of course our daily commitment to it and your support. I can not thank you enough. Please forward this to David and feel free to use this for any marketing etc that you wish to. We are looking forward to the progress being extending to her spelling.

I greatly value the support you have given me so far

It was great to get a call from you. I initially didn’t respond because I thought surely this was not a service for those outside of the UK. I was so shocked when my phone rang and feeling so positive about completing this course.

I greatly value the support you have given me so far. I feel finally I may have something that can help me help me beautiful little girl get back on track.

Thank you again

Sean has started reading on his own by choice!

Sean has started reading on his own by choice! I’m so excited. His teacher has also noticed a great improvement in his reading. He is also wrapped he can read more per phrase in the reading section and is loving the book about Odysseus and the Cyclops.

Excited to pick up books!

Maria slowly improved with her reading until recently when she seems to have come on in leaps and bounds. She is excited to pick up books and read to me, even when we are walking home from school.
Her spelling is now starting to come on too and she can spell words that she has not learnt which is brilliant. We are very pleased and Maria is very excited that she is close to the end of the programme.

He picked a book off the shelf!

I wanted to let you know that we have now received the Bronze Certificate, thank you!! Máté was sooo proud of himself – and with good reason.:-) It is now on the wall of his room.
And…the next morning as we were getting ready for the day, I found him lost in a book which he just took off his shelf. I tiptoed out to let him take his time; a few minutes later he came in to me, beaming: he read it all!:-) It was a book for smaller children (in French, by the way), with one or two lines on each page. But still, he clearly grabbed it because he wanted to do the reading, too, not just to look at the images. That is what I call SUCCESS, with capitals.:-))

I attribute this program with his reading. Great program!

Hunter has made lots of progress using Easyread. He can read harder words. He has accomplished a lot and his teachers have noticed lots of growth. I’m very proud and we always encourage and tell him how great he is doing. He loves the prizes as well. I attribute this program with his reading. I use the characters with books he reads to help him with the sounds the word is making. Great program!

We have seen a substantial improvement…

We have seen a substantial improvement of late in Siennas reading. This has come about in the last few weeks. She is now reading age appropriate books of her own accord. She still has some way to go but we have seen the results as promised. Thankyou.

Declan can now read, where as a year ago he really couldn’t.

The way the programme is constructed is fab and Declan was interested from the start. I’m not sure what you could improve, Declan can now read, where as a year ago he really couldn’t. he still struggles with a few words but I am sure with more practice this will improve. His spelling is still a sticky point but it is improving too.
Thanks again for creating this programme.

Regards
