Parent Reviews of Easyread

Our most recent reviews:

Louise is at last enjoying literacy again

“We are very pleased with Louise’s progress. Louise is really enjoying the lessons and doesn’t like to miss a day as she realises it is helping her so much. Her rhyming, spelling and decoding have improved within 50 lessons.

Thank you so much to all at Easyread. Louise is at last enjoying literacy again.”

A wonderful message for a Monday morning. We’re so pleased 10 year-old Louise is learning to love literacy again.

For the past 2 days Sadie has been bringing a book in the car to read

“I’m thrilled to report that for the past 2 days Sadie has been bringing a book in the car to read. She also wrote in a composition book for about 20 minutes straight this evening. She acknowledges that she feels more excited about reading now.

Thank you.”

8 year-old Sadie is finding her love for reading at lesson 25.

Arlo now really enjoys reading and feels good about himself

“After what seemed like a shaky start in terms of assessment this year, we had Arlo’s student conference on Tuesday, and his teacher is amazed at the progress he has made in his reading.

His fluency in reading out loud has improved so much! She also had to test him 4 times (going up a level each time) when trying to determine what level he was at.

I wish that we had started Arlo on this programme when he was 8 or 9, instead of 12. But better late than never – he has improved SO much!

He’s so confident in his reading, he really enjoys it and he feels really good about himself!

Thank you!”

With Easyread she has advanced a grade level and some in 2 months

“I have some good news! Last time Emily got tested in reading was on 1/21/16 and she was reading on 1st grade level, second quarter.

She just got tested again, on 4/29, and she is now on 2nd grade level, last quarter.

I truly believe that Easyread can take all credit for this.

Before we started Easyread Emily advanced from 1st grade level, first quarter to 1st grade level, second quarter for the first half of the school year. With Easyread she has advanced a grade level and some in 2 months.

I am confident that in a few more weeks she will be on 3rd grade level. Thank you guys.

Easyread is worth every penny.”

9 year-old Emily is already moving up the reading levels at lesson 63, go Emily go!

We have to tell him to put the light out at night

“When we started Rory’s reading was very poor.

He hated reading, made continual mistakes and was very reluctant to read at all.

Now he’ll nestle up on his bed and read his novel voluntarily. We have to tell him to put the light out at night, as he wants to read ‘just one more page’.

Recently I picked up his book in the morning, and he’d read five chapters of How to be a Pirate by Cressida Cowell after I said good night.

His reading is now fairly fluent, and he can sound out unknown words. This is a true delight for us, and we’re certain that Easyread has been the main ingredient in this success.”

An amazing result for 7 year-old Rory as he nears the end of the course.

We love to hear your success stories! It’s why we do what we do every day.

I thought the whole program was great

“I thought the whole program was great. Jack really liked playing all the games especially Letter Quest. I really enjoyed seeing him read the timed books at the end. Thank you for all your help.”

A very happy mum at the end of the programme.

If not for this program I don't know that he would be reading yet at almost 8

“He is not fluent yet but he is finally to the point where he is not frustrated with my help because he has the basics down.

If not for this program I don’t know that he would be reading yet at almost 8.

Thank you all for everything you’ve done and we will be forever grateful for being able to help him read!”

Finishing up at lesson 120. We look forward to hearing how Billy’s decoding and fluency continues to improve post-Easyread, with the books he is now happier to give a go.

His fluency is already improving at lesson 45

“So far this program is working nicely for Theo.

He is having a bit of difficulty with the rhyming section but otherwise coming right along and even using decoding when reading books with me at night.

I like the short daily routine. He can focus for that length of time and has wanted to do this almost every day.

He loves the codeword/prize part of it and it motivates him quite a bit.

His fluency is already improving.

Thanks very much and we are most satisfied so far.”

He has never done that before

“I can see Timmy has made progress already.

Just the other day he picked up a library book and started to sound out words on his own.

He has never done that before.

He does not guess the words when reading now and he has an easier time going from letter to letter. Before he might have started with the last sound or some other letter.

Thank you.”

Case Study: From stressed-out struggling decoder to Roald Dahl book lover

20160421_083841

Sapphi was struggling at school because she just didn’t get on with the traditional method of teaching phonics at all. From a struggling 5 year-old who took great pains to sound out every word on a page, only to forget the word on the next page, to reading (and enjoying!) books aimed at a reader way above her age, we think this is the absolute best result for Sapphi.

She loved all the prizes and has really enjoyed playing the games, especially Letter Quest (which initially she was reluctant to do!) and Gloop.

Her favourite book has been the World’s Weirdest Animals – although the vocabulary in it is really tricky, I am flabbergasted at how well she is decoding the words – just goes to show she can do anything when she is motivated enough!

I could easily have stopped the programme months ago as she was already reading well by then, but I let her continue as she has enjoyed it so much and I think the helicopter is a good goal to aim for.

Now she is above where she needs to be in her class and at home she is reading a range of books from Roald Dahl (her favourite) to Enid Blyton and Harry Potter.

I would thoroughly recommend Easyread to anyone who has a child struggling to learn with phonics. Thank you again, above all Easyread took away the stress from learning to read! It has made such a huge difference to her confidence and has made the whole process fun.

She has been reading everything she can get her hands on

“I am writing to let you know there has been a significant break-through in Kate’s reading. At lesson 89 when the story section changed to paragraph reading, Kate surprised herself by reading the whole page uninterrupted!

From this point she has been literally reading everything, from the back of tissue boxes to ingredient lists on food products – everything she can get her hands on. She has started on her first ever chapter book and is engrossed in the story, loving retelling me the progress after every few pages.

It is a marvellous and wonderful thing to see. I am so very grateful for your system. Kate’s confidence is improving daily.

Thank you again from the bottom of my heart!”

The breakthrough moment we’ve all been hoping for for 10 year-old Kate, and right on time at lesson 89.

Thomas now tells everyone his favourite subject at school is reading

“I would like to praise this reading system as Thomas is now an avid reader and is 5 reading levels above where he should be at for a Year 4 student (8 years old)! Thomas now tells everyone his favourite subject at school is reading which wouldn’t have been the case a year ago.

Many thanks and all the best of luck.”

Thomas’s mum, Melissa.

Wilhelm is seeing great results and…

Wilhelm is seeing great results and is being awarded for his efforts.

On Tuesday, the 5th of April Wilhelm´s Easyread reading was AMAZING. It was the first time that Wilhelm could decode the pictures faster than I could!

M

I'm excited for her…

“I wanted to let you know that Abiella is thoroughly enjoying Easyread. She hates to miss a day and in fact has only missed one since she restarted. Her reading has improved and she now enjoys going to the library and is choosing chapter books. She is also decoding more rather than searching for clues. I’m excited for her and happy to see her a lot less stressed about reading or when she encounters an unfamiliar word.”

Amazing progress for 8 year-old Abiella at lesson 40, congratulations! Confidence is key to reading success.

I am thrilled with the progress he has made so far at lesson 126

“His reading is continuing to progress outside the program. He has actually turned into a voracious reader. On the advice of your blog, he has started The 13-Story Treehouse Series and he loves it. Other books/series that are hits with him are the Captain Underpants series, the Space Taxi series, the Desmond Pucket Series and Suddenly the Milk. He is also starting to read our Roald Dahl collection on his own.

As well, he had to write an essay for school recently. He asked his teacher if he could type his good copy. He is becoming a more confident writer requiring less assistance from me and his teacher. His spelling mistakes are becoming better mistakes meaning they make sense to me; for example, spelling “what” as “wut”. His developing keyboarding skills are also due to Easyread.

When he started the program in November I was desperate and rather disheartened. Nothing I had tried previously was working and I had only succeeded in adding to his and my frustration. I am thrilled with the progress he has made so far at lesson 126.

Thanks,
Rebecca (Evan’s mum)”

We can’t wait to see how the spelling comes along for 9 year-old Evan over the next month or so. Congratulations on all the progress you’ve already seen!

I trust the program completely

“I asked Marquez for feedback and he said “It’s awesome! And it’s fun. And I like how short the lessons are. I can read things like signs and other stuff much better and easier now!”

I (mom) like how relaxed he is when he’s learning, and I too can see improvement with his reading outside of the program. We see progress, slow and steady, and I trust the program completely to get us where we want to be.

Just the fact that he asks to do it “Hey! We didn’t do Easyread yet today!” is astonishing for the boy who was so dejected that he never wanted to touch reading. THANK YOU.”

10 year-old Marquez and his mum at lesson 45. Amazing!

He realises that sounding out words IS reading

“Another fabulous thing about Easyread is that he feels so good about his reading now – he doesn’t feel bad about trying, he realises that sounding out words IS reading – and so he’ll read everything. I know a lot of kids are like that aged 6 or 8, but it’s taken us until the Easyread programme for him to be confident and happy with his reading – to enjoy it and feel good about it :-)”

Another great testimonial for today from Arlo’s mum. Arlo is 12, but it’s never too late to make a change to your reading. We’re very glad you found us.

Speedy little decoders

“I have to say I am amazed how fast she can read through the “text” with the decoding pictures only…I am so impressed. She got me today, she sounded out the word “tongue” and I said no way that’s not right. Yup as usual I was wrong, I clicked on the word and it was “tongue” :)”

When your child is faster at the decoding than you are… We’ve all been there.

Today we are quite tipsy from celebrating

“Just to let you know, today was parent teacher day at Annabell’s school. In November (her last one) we were despairing, it was so bad. Not with her attitude or work ethic, but how far she was falling behind the other students. Her confidence was very low.

Today we are quite tipsy from celebrating. She has jumped up two years in spelling and reading, since November. Also all other subjects show a vast improvement. I think this is due to better comprehension and confidence.

Many thanks to the team.”

What a breakthrough for Annabell at lesson 70. Thanks to her dad for sharing!

He is now in the 70th percentile for readers in his age group

“I should tell you that Toby was tested at school last week and is now in the 70th percentile for readers in his age group. This is incredible because once upon a time he was in the second percentile. So thank you.”

The best result at the end of the course.

Teacher recommends to keep doing whatever you’re doing at home

“My husband had a meeting with Ian’s teacher today. She said Ian’s reading had improved and for us to keep doing whatever we were doing at home.

Of course, we are doing Easyread lessons at home! I am sure you’ll be “surprised” that Ian is reading better now that he knows how to sound out words!

This is my second child using Easyread and I love it. Ian and I have made some adjustments since I last spoke with you, which has helped with the Place Name and Rhyme Time exercises.

I have learned to high-five my encouragement first, and then talk because that works better for Ian. I was so happy for him the other day when he sounded and blended the place name “Thrimbley” correctly!

For now, we are jolly good and hoping to keep up the momentum to take-off reading.

Cathy”

A very happy mum second time around at lesson 43.

I think she is there now and I’m so impressed

“I thought I’d let you know that Sapphira did Spell Drive herself for the first time ever today and she really enjoyed it.

She is very resistant to doing anything outside her comfort zone and because we had had all the problems before with it not working as it should, that also put her off, but she is suddenly starting to really pick up on the spelling.

I think she made a couple of mistakes on it cos her finger slid to the next key in her enthusiasm to hit the key quickly but not because she couldn’t spell the word!

Also her reading has just jumped up a huge step. Easyread has been so crucial for her in boosting her confidence but today especially, even though we were really late doing Easyread cos of afternoon clubs, she read so fluently and was putting such a lot of expression into the reading. So much so that today we were talking about the punctuation and where to pause when reading.

Thank you. I’ll reassess when we get to the end of this book [about finishing the programme] which we are both enjoying but I think she is there now and I’m so impressed.”

A very happy mum to 6 year-old Sapphira at lesson 195.
