Parent Reviews of Easyread

Our most recent reviews:

This game is excellent…

Molly has been on Spellrace for a little while now. She isn’t doing it everyday as we are letting her have a bit of a break since she has finished the official Easyread program. However this game is a great resource and is just what she needs.

Her reading has come on so much since the begining of the course that she is now able to read books appropriate to her age, and does so willingly. It is now only her spelling which is an issue and therefore this game is excellent.

We are delighted with how Ben is responding…

We are delighted with how Ben is responding to the Easyread system. His confidence in reading things is really improving. The Little Pig story is going well and he is loving the games.

We are just so happy that we are seeing Ben engage. I know he can feel his confidence improving himself. Thank you!

A new outlook on life for Daisy

Daisy is getting on very well with Easyread she is decoding the text and has now stopped guessing words, she rereads the text at the end of the page and is very fluent. Daisy loves the mushroom picker game and has named the mushrooms Mr Grumpy face and Mrs Happy face. The codewords come at just the right time to keep her excited about reading and she loves taking her prizes to school to share her progress with her teacher and class.

Daisy has changed in her attitude to reading and is starting to read her first chapter books, she had stalled with her reading progress at the end of the reception year and is now zooming through the reading stages at school.

Thank you Easyread for helping Daisy find a love for reading and books again, it’s turned her back into the keen excited reader she was starting to become before she hit a brickwall. Easyread has helped decode the reading process for Daisy so it all makes sense again and she is happy to read again.

Thanks for making it all make sense for Daisy so she can love reading again.

A whole new world for Liam

Thank you so much David for developing such a fantastic program that is accessible to people all over the world and is so effective.
I was an educator and taught grade one for 9 years. Then I had children and stayed home. I helped each of my own children to read . When Liam began preschool I was concerned with his inability to learn letters and numbers. I thought it would come with time and exposure to print as with my other kids. I even delayed his start in school to give him more time to grasp letters , sounds, etc. Then when he was in grade one I began to help intensively. I worked at home with him and used a variation of Marie Clay’s Early Intervention. I really like this program but he still wasn’t making much progress. I also was taking him to an eye specialist and we were doing eye tracking exercises and activities. By Christmas he had finally mastered the letters. We celebrated that milestone but it was only naming the letters. Finally near the end of his grade one year we found Easyread. I was on a website which was a compilation of strategies for children with dyslexia. I looked it up and thought it seemed better than anything else on line that I had found. I also didn’t want to pull him out of school to take him to “the reading foundation” because he was sorely lacking confidence. He was angry and did not adapt to new people or situations. I could see me spending a lot of money and not being able to get him to the program. Easyread being in the safe home environment was crucial to Liam. He was able to learn more in the relaxed environment.
So now he is reading!
I wanted to let you know that to no surprise he is a much happier boy now. He is gaining confidence and doesn’t have the angry blowups at school. He still has a ways to go with the self confidence but being able to read is so crucial.
Anyway, the layout, the succession of lessons, the prizes, the positive feedback, the positive non computer voice (yours!), the support just a phone call away is all absolutely brilliant. There is nothing out there that I have found that comes close. And I do tell everyone.

Keigan has blossomed!

We really are so pleased with Keigan’s progress!

Had teacher meetings last week and she said that she had three boys in her group who she ‘had her eye’ on as behind in reading and writing … and that he has blossomed in last little while and totally pulled away from that group!

More importantly he is wanting to read and write everyday things like signs and shopping lists and his school readers that were once ‘so difficult’ are becoming ‘ too easy!’ : – )

A child transformed

I, also, want to let you know that using Easyread has been such a positive experience for Jacob so far. He never objects to doing his lesson or the extra exercises asked of him. My family and I are thrilled to have found a program that certainly seems to be the answer. We all knew something wasn’t right for as much as I have worked with him. Even with an Elementary Education background (specializing in reading), I could not figure out what was blocking Jacob from being able to read. I had taught him so much phonemic awareness and was baffled as to why he could not use it to read. It was just never a natural process for him.

He is always ready to do what is asked of him with Easyread. I believe it is because of the positive manner in which Dave speaks, the personal letters/attention he receives, the engaging games/exercises, and he REALLY loves the prizes that come in the mail! He eagerly shows his friends and stores them in a special place. The final prize of an RC helicopter has him really thrilled. Flight is one of his passions!

One noticeable change in Jacob is that he is now often trying to read signs when we are out and about. He is decoding and really wants to figure out what the signs say. I am not pushing him to read at this time per your suggestion, but he sure is having fun decoding words here and there 🙂

He really loves to be read to and his comprehension is amazing! Homeschooling, over this past year, I eased off of insisting he try to read and write as it just was such a struggle (and I was realizing there was something blocking his ability to do so). I simply read the school material to him and then we discuss it. He usually takes it further on his own accord and makes something that relates to what we have read about. He is very creative! I believe these things have kept him academically sound while we wait for his reading and writing to “catch up.”

I know I have rambled on, but I just want you to know that Easyread has made a special 8 year old boy in the USA very happy! Even grandma mentioned that he seems happier lately. We are sure it is because of Easyread. He seems relieved to know that he’s not alone and that someone all the way from England is helping him read!

Ben's progress is amazing…

Just to let you know that Ben’s progress is amazing. He goes to Explore Learning which is a computer based tutoring class where he is frequently getting scores of 85% plus and at least one score of 100%. The programme aims for children to get around 70% per subject. So the fact that he is repeatedly getting way above this really is an indication of how well he is doing.

More importantly, he is getting quite determined and is really striving to get better with his reading.

Thanks so much for your input to his latest achievements.

We are all really proud…

George is managing the longer text really well. He has made fantastic progress with his reading this year and we are all really proud of him. Ben is also enjoying Easyread, he is coping with the stories well too and we don’t have any concerns at the moment.

I'm converted…

We’ve been using Easyread for around 6-7 months now and I’m converted! There’s definitely been an improvement in Elodie’s reading, in fact she got the progress prize at school and an award for effort. (Funny how the school thinks it’s down to what they’ve been doing – even though they haven’t changed anything!)

We waved goodbye to reluctant reading!

Izzie’s reading has become significantly better, she is reading much more fluently, is now able to tackle words by decoding, and gaining success with those “tricky” words. Izzie was a child who would scan a page and if she spotted a word she couldn’t instantly read she would rather not read the entire page at all. She now reads with ease and when faced with a tricky words she gets on and decodes them.

I’m convinced that much of Izzie’s problems with reading was due to lack in confidence and a dislike of getting anything incorrect. She takes reading in her stride now; is clearly much more confident, and doesn’t get annoyed with herself if she gets it wrong, instead switching instantly to decoding.

Most of the reading is now fluent, with more speed and confidence and has raced through from stage 3/4 to the tail end of stage 7 in 2 months! We’ve noticed that she reading things outside too, road signs, menus, leaflets.

I wouldn’t say that she has suddenly developed a great love of reading but we’ve certainly waved goodbye to the relucant reader that we used to battle with daily!

We are very excited about her progress to date and are very much looking forward to seeing how much her reading develops over the next few months.

The Easyread programe has increased Ash's confidence…

The Easyread programe has increased Ash’s confidence and he is not panicking as much as he used to. He usually only gets something wrong when he is not concentrating properly. He very rarely appears to be guessing. Ash can sometimes get quite upset if he gets something wrong-I’m trying to convince him that its part of learning and not to get so upset about it. His favourite game is Letter Quest!

Thank you not only for helping Molly to spell but for helping us to understand…

Thank you very much for everything you have done over the last 10 month. It was really strange this morning to think that we don’t need to factor in Easyread time every day- obviously that makes our lives easier but it is sad in a way as well as it has become a major part of our lives.

It has taken a lot of input from us as well as Molly but the benefits have been immense, Molly is so much more confident in her abilities and will attempt spellings she previously wouldn’t have. Her handwriting is much neater and her work is generally so much easier to understand.  Her most recent homework although still with spelling mistakes was completed all on her own, with no tears and was beautifully neat, in sentences and completely understandable which is such a major step forward.

So thank you not only for helping Molly to spell but for helping us to understand the struggles she has been going through and helping to support us through some frustrating months.

Tyler is making great progress and still enjoying the lessons. He is still using the lessons pretty much everyday with the occasional skips. We have found that his spelling has improved somewhat and his reading has improved greatly. As such he is now at his level for reading but still struggles with handwriting and spelling. He is going to extra classes for handwriting at school and we are already seeing a difference.

Overall he is doing fantastically and the confidence this has given him has enabled him to achieve in other areas..e.g. he is getting 98.5% in Maths SATs and 100% in Science SATs!

Breakthrough with Easyread…

I thought I’d let you know about a sudden breakthrough we have had with Erin’s reading. As I said in the beginning, Erin can read reasonably fluently but misses out words, changed endings etc. The other thing was that she found reading incredibly laborious and, consqeuently, did as little as possible. Well, last weekend, Erin suddenly turned into a book-worm ! It came about because she had wanted to see The Hunger Games at the cinema but it was no longer showing in Bedford. Whilst in Tesco’s, she saw the book and asked to buy it. She started reading it on the way home and has barely put it down since! In the last week she has read 278 pages !!!! She said she had never understood what we meant when we said you just can’t put some books down, but now it has suddenly become crystal clear. We are delighted that she has discovered the pleasure of reading and think it is a big step forward.

I only wish I had found you years ago…

I am very impressed by the program to date. I have seen a significant improvement in Thomas’s reading already, as has his teacher.

This program is the last thing I was prepared to try, as we have spent A LOT of money on various expert assessments which left all of us feeling terrible. One woman even told us Thomas might never be able to live independently!! Every assessment seems to assume an ability to read even when you are seeking help due to delayed reading!!

Since you identified his eye problems his progress has been incredible. Watching the amazement on his face when he first realised that he could read the words on the page was one of the best days of my life!!! From there I have been excited to see his confidence improving all the time. Once upon a time I would have to almost complete Thomas’s homework myself, now he gets it done on his own.

I can see him improving every day with his decoding skills and I am having to support him less and less with this as well. I think there is some improvement in the spelling as well which has been a major problem for us until now. I am really thrilled with the program and I have been recommending it to friends and colleagues. I only wish I had found you years ago.

Dear David…

Dear David,

I thought, along the way, that Easyread was really good and I’ve had lots of fun doing Easyread everyday. What I liked about it were the games and the stories. I think it has helped me really improve my reading and I am now reading the third Harry Potter and really enjoying it. I now really like reading.

Course feedback from learner Oliver

I have really enjoyed the course and I think it has done a lot of good.
I also think it has been very helpful especially with my writing level. At the start of this course I was a level 3b and now I am a 4a. My spelling has literally doubled in level, maybe even tripled.

The programme is great…

The programme is great and Ryan is improving his reading daily.

– Teacher from a school in Lancashire using the system

We can clearly see that these methods have tuned into his specific issues…

Max discovered that he had reached Gold today when he logged in on his own, and came running upstairs to tell me. He was very happy to achieve this and was jumping and waving his arms around to the applause. He felt that he had worked very hard to get to this and said…’soon that helicopter will be in my hands’….!!!!
Once again thanks for all your help in developing his progress with us. We can clearly see that these methods have tuned into his specific issues so closely to bring these results.

Amazing how far he has come…

We are progressing really well, Jake is really confident and enjoys his lessons very much. Although I supervise I tend just to sit back and he gets on with it independently, it is amazing how far he has come since first starting the course.

The programme has really worked for Lewys…

Thank you very much for the invisible pens, they have been a great success. Thank you also for the information about the future lessons, it is very helpful. Lewys is making great progress with his reading and now free reads every night. Thank you for all your help, the programme has really worked for Lewys.

Thank you so much for inspiring Freddie…

Thank you so much for inspiring Freddie to take on Easyread, he’s loving all of it-including the messages, games and spy equipment.

Leaps and bounds…

I’d like to say Theo’s reading has come on in leaps and bounds in the time he has been using Easyread, he could read the picture words so fast I struggled to keep up with him!

What I also liked about the course, as opposed to using a tutor, was me and Theo’s Mum were part of his learning process and we gained a lot of satisfaction by helping Theo.

David is very right!

For the first time in ages Daisy came out of school and was excited to read her school reading book to me. She said ‘I can read this very well Easyread helped me’ Easyread has given her a positive attitude to reading again and her confidence is improving all the time she is more willing to try herself rather than asking for us to do it for her. She said the other day when she got in a muddle with her top ‘David says sometimes things are hard but they are the things worth doing’ she was very pleased with herself when she untangled herself and got her top on correctly saying ‘ David is very right’
Thanks Easyread!
