Matthew went to the behavioural Optometrist for his annual check up today. So happy to report that Matthew’s eye tracking has improved and he is now working at the level expected for his age. She thinks the exercises you asked us to do have made the difference and he will only improve from here.
Thank you so much.

HI! We would like to cancel the reading program for Abigail…

HI! We would like to cancel the reading program for Abigail. We have loved it and seen much growth in her. We are going back to school and are unable to commit to doing it in September. Our plan is to see how she does and possibly come back in October. Thanks so much for all your help! -A

At lesson 89 we are seeing improvement in Kaitlyn’s…

At lesson 89 we are seeing improvement in Kaitlyn’s overall reading. She is much more fluent and doesn’t struggle on the simple short words like she used to. She still gets stuck on a few unfamiliar words. On occasion, she will guess at a small word, but usually corrects it herself. She does get careless when she is tired, so we try to do the program early in the day.

Thank you for the continued support. We are excited to see her continued improvement, and, look forward to the next couple of months to see changes in the spelling too.

Thanks again

Dear David, I’d like to update you about our son Cameron…

Dear David,
I’d like to update you about our son Cameron who completed your Easyread and Easyspell courses some years ago. He really struggled with learning to read before Easyread and Easyspell. Both helped enormously at the time and he flourished into a confident student. He was diagnosed with some elements of dyslexia after his English Teacher lobbied to have him tested. This allowed him to have some more time during his exams which he found very helpful. We are pleased to say he has heard last week that he achieved seven A grades in his Scottish National 5 exams. He’s just gone back to school today to start his Higher exams with renewed enthusiasm.
We have just been discussing our memories of easy read this evening and it’s been quite nostalgic for Cameron to google easy read and to hear your familiar voice!
I’d just like to thank you once again for your system and your help which just arrived at exactly at the right time for us. Cameron still loves reading books despite the time he also spends on “screen based” entertainment.Thank you for your help in enabling Cameron to achieve his potential. I hope easy read is going from strength to strength!
Best wishes

Yes, Xavier has clearly progressed in his decoding…

Yes, Xavier has clearly progressed in his decoding. After reading the reminder below to have him reread each phrase, we have been doing so, and that does seem to be helping his fluency as well.
He still has moments of frustration with spelling now that he is working on the spelling typing. He is rarely missing easy words now, but still confuses “b” and “d” without the trainer sounds.
He does a lot of fidgeting during lessons, but loves to play super search and letter quest, and he has already been telling his teacher about the “accidental inventions” he’s been reading about over the summer. Overall, I am very happy with his progress, and hope to continue to see an improvement between lessons 90 and 120, especially now that school is back in session here and we have a more consistent family schedule.

Thank you for this program, it has provided the balance of structure and fun that I believe has helped keep him engaged in learning!

Jaydon continues to be the top student in his class…

Jaydon continues to be the top student in his class. In fact, he just received 100% GPA and an invite to a special breakfast for being the top year 7 in school. Reading and writing are his favourite subjects and he absolutely excels in them. He reads so much that we have difficulty finding enough age appropriate books for him to read – he has read most of the books in the library! – S

Zahira has for the first time ever…

Thank you so much for all your help with Zahira’s reading – its been really fantastic. I keep recommending your scheme to others.

However we think we’ve gone as far as we need with the scheme – so please can you cancel our DD. Zahira has for the first time ever stayed up late into the night reading a book! YAY!

let us know if we have any lessons left in our payments.

thanks lots

It’s so exciting to see Tiffany’s reading progressing…

It’s so exciting to see Tiffany’s reading progressing so well. Tonight she read these new words in her book: “emergencies”, “Snortingham”, “frustrating” and “tongue” all by herself. Lovely to see her be willing to give these words a go and get them right, she isn’t just throwing out random sounds and words and guessing! So exciting to see her improving. The story was funny and she was giggling at all the funny bits too, showing great comprehension. She also told me how with no pictures you create a picture in your head.

Thanks so much for your program.

M (Primary school teacher and mum of Tiffany)

Lesson 36

First of all I want to thank you so much…

First of all I want to thank you so much for your brilliant course and for all your support.
For the first time today, Grace blossomed and smiled. She really enjoys doing the course!
After being on the PC today, doing her routine course, she was happy and said to me in german,
” Mama already finished, it was to short “.
“That wasn’t 15 minutes, it seemed like only 2 minutes.”
I can’t say, how much I appreciate this course and how happy I am, to see Grace being, calm and relaxed and how happy she is.

Thanks a million,
sincerely

We are so pleased with finding this program.

We are so pleased with finding this program. Chase is now reading books and heading into 1st grade more confident, which is everything I could hope for (and we’re only on lesson 50).

I asked Chase, “what would you like me to email David,” He says “Thank you for everything you’ve done so far.”

Thank you 🙂 – K

Thanks David it was great to connect tonight…

Thanks David it was great to connect tonight and chat about Samuel’s progress. We are delighted that he is so engaged in this process.  He comes home from school wanting to go online to the the day’s lesson. He says it fun, and not boring like other ways he has been taught.

Congratulations on developing such a great program, and also for the training for parents which I am enjoying. We have been seeking support for Samuel pretty much since he started school – assessments, tutoring, eye therapy, and are committed at home reading with him and trying to encourage him. While we have certainly seen him improve over the years, we could see we needed more help.

Samuel is not enthusiastic about learning which has been frustrating but we can see that the difficulties he has with reading, is probably a big contributor. His personality probably is not that well suited to traditional school settings and teaching methods either.

We are very excited about the potential with the EasyRead approach.

Looking forward to seeing how things go for him

I wanted to take a few minutes to thank you…

I wanted to take a few minutes to thank you and Easyread for transforming Freddie’s reading. It has taken commitment and determination from him and from me to ensure that we have done the daily lesson properly, but there is no doubt whatsoever that it has worked. He now reads fluently and approaches unseen texts confidently with no hesitation. This can be anything from cereal packets at the breakfast table, to instructions in his homework, or asking to read to me at bedtime. He can now comfortably access the world through the written word and his self esteem is much improved because of this. I too have lost my anxiety about his literacy and we are all feeling much more relaxed around Freddie and his reading and spelling. I truly believe that Easyread has transformed his prospects for happiness and success in the coming years. In his own words Easyread has been ” Amazing”. It has indeed been money very well spent.

I really have nothing negative to say about the system. My only tips for other potential users would be to say that the role of the administrator is key to the success of the system. It’s important to do the training aspects of the system carefully and read all the background information on the site , especially the advice on maintaining a positive attitude through constant praise and encouragement. It’s a long road to travel and we had our rough moments with Freddie becoming cross, negative and defeatist, but overall the whole experience has been extremely positive for us both and generally he has enjoyed the lessons.

With regard to continuing after the gold award I’m still undecided. If I can keep him motivated I think it would be of benefit as he still slips back into old bad reading habits occasionally when he’s tired. For example when he is tired and lacking focus he will still occasionally skip over and guess easy high frequency words with no regard for the initial sound if he thinks he can guess from the context or overall shape of the word. I also think he would benefit from further consolidation with his spelling as sometimes it’s surprisingly good, but it can be quite inconsistent and he is less confident with this than with reading.

You may recall that he is an identical twin. When we started Easyread Freddie’s reading and spelling were much weaker than his brother’s. Now I would say that his spelling is still weaker by some way, but that their decoding skills are fairly similar and that if anything Freddie’s fluency is better.I have wondered whether following the Gold award it might be possible to use Easyread on alternate days with Freddie and on Freddie’s days off to use it with his brother Christo – just to get some focussed time and attention with Christo in order to build his fluency. He has occasionally watched over Freddie’s shoulder and done a few of the extra games and would, I think, thrive on the attention. I think the level of reading required in the upcoming lessons would be appropriate for him. Any thoughts on that ?

Once again thank you for Easyread. I know it has transformed Freddie’s attitude not just to reading and writing, but to himself and life in general. It has also transformed my attitude to him. I have seen and understood why and how he has struggled with reading and writing, and rather than feeling cross, frustrated, worried, frightened and disappointed with him, I have been able to support him in overcoming his difficulties and help him to transform the situation.

Yes – there is great improvement with Hunter and his reading…

Yes – there is great improvement with Hunter and his reading – although we hadn’t been reading other books until very recently… He has enjoyed reading the Easyread book on space and we visited the planetarium in Greenwich last week to feed this interest. He has also been reading a page a day of a book about the solar system and he is doing it with confidence.

Hunter does reread the phrases.. up to 3 times for fluency but he doesn’t always like to do it. Sometimes he like to chat about what he’s read too, at the regular breaks in the reading section, usually when the picture pops up, which helps his understanding and keeps his interest.

He still says, sometimes, that he can’t read – which is a bit frustrating (for me). I always tell him to be positive.

Sometimes, he still guesses the word in the reread section. Like today, he sounded out the word destruction, but then in the reread section he said destroyed. I reminded him to sound out the word or click on it if he needed help to do it again and that he mustn’t guess the word, but he still does it sometimes (not all the time – but sometimes). He still also frequently says \”for\” when reading \”of\”… but this is the only word he still says like this. Sometimes he catches and corrects himself before I have the chance to.

But all in all, he is like a different boy and sounding things out when he plays his computer games and feeling proud of himself when he can read something when we are out and about.

Thank you!

All the best,

S

Alexander’s reading has improved immensely! We are extremely happy with his progress. He reads books so fast and fluent, we sometimes find it difficult to keep up with him. He doesn’t try to guess the text of the sentence anymore and only makes mistakes rarely, usually on names that make no sence. But even when he makes a mistake, he spots it himself. We feel his comprehension has come a long way too. He did very well on his end-of-year tests. We’re persisting with the EasyRead system to, hopefully, see improvement in his spelling skills. – G

We are so thankful to have found Easyread. The program has exceeded our expectations on so many different levels. Adelaide has progressed more in her 80 lessons since May then in 2 years of one on one help through her school. Her confidence is through the roof, which has been a key to her success. We can not thank you and Sarah enough for guiding us through the process and creating such an outstanding program.

Best,

Amazing progress. The other online programs….

……………….Amazing progress. The other online programs, imho, are junk food compared to Easyread. One thing that I think Easyread gets dead right: The bare bones graphics in the game are a terrific balance of just enough razzle dazzle with good chunk of learning. These days, if it doesn’t light up, flash, sing, dance, and dang near induce seizures… it’s boring and lame and etc… So… most of the educational games & apps are accommodating / feeding this demand. It’s 70% junk and 30% substance. Worse, when you put a piece of paper and a pencil in front of them, they act like they’re being tortured. The Easyread program is a PERFECT spoon full of sugar that makes the medicine go down, as opposed to the 48oz, artificially flavored & colored, high fructose corn syrup, tutti frutti unicorn nightmare that they others are by comparison. You have the perfect balance. I REALLY appreciate this. With so much understanding already of how video games and whatnot affect & interact with the dopamine/reward centers of the brain, I can’t thank you enough for not making us trade literacy for further tech addiction. You rock. Period.

It is important for us to know that you are satisfied with the system so far and how we have been supporting it.
………………………..10,000% and will recommend you every chance I get.

Please could you just review for me how you have found the system to date?

…………….I’m sitting here trying to think of something that I don’t like about the program and I just can’t…? The only thing remotely off-putting was the price (at first blush), but in fairness I was comparing you to the other programs we’d used (ABC Mouse, Starfall, Teach Your Monster to Read, etc…). You’re nothing like them. I think if his issues weren’t as mild as they are, I would be hugely thankful for the extra support that the full cost program offers.

The additional games that you have are also fantastic. He loves the driving game.

I’ve seen the stats for him that you provide, but I can’t really gauge what is a good score or not? I look at them out of curiosity, but mostly gauge his progress by how he does in the program. Plus, he likes to die or answer incorrectly ::huge eyeroll:: in the program for fun. Sooo… I’m not sure if the stats are very telling anyway?

The link to the video of the Koenigsegg (sp?) revving its engine in the Coolest Cars book in the library was a total WINNER! He watched it 3 times before I made him move along 🙂

For the first time EVER last week, he wrote some words in some coloring his was doing. Ok, he spelled ‘like’ as ‘lic’ — but he TRIED!!! At least he tried!!! Another day, he read the simple words on the refrigerator. He typically never tries to read… never. My heart runneth over. I LOVE you people <3 <3 <3

IT IS PARTICULARLY IMPORTANT TO SAY SO IF YOU HAVE ANY WORRIES.

………………You’re kind of phonics-y, and yet you’re kind of not. I’m curious to see how all of this will help him learn to spell. Given the progress he’s made so far, I’m sure how ever you train spelling will work as wonderfully as how you train for spelling. It’s more a curiosity than a worry, but I’m wondering how the spelling part will work?

You will have seen that we like to collect testimonials and so I hope it would be OK to quote anything nice you have to say!

……………Yes, ok to quote anything.

Thanks for everything!!

the program we’ve been searching for…

For Sam, the Easy Read program has been the program we’ve been searching for all of these years. He loves sounding out the symbols and in 6 weeks, he is reading. We spent years working with workbooks that showed pictures of words, so he was focused on the graphic and not on the sounds. There was also a lot of guessing with the words, which was frustrating for him when he guessed wrong. Now, with your system, he is focused on every sound and can fluently read words. He really enjoys the game aspect to the program and is always happy to do his work. Sam is very motivated to improve and we are seeing tremendous progress with your program. I must admit that I was worried about the short sessions at first, but now after 6 weeks of daily practice, we are seeing the progress and improvement. Sam now enjoys reading and often asks me now not to help him with a word. Yesterday, he read the word “could” perfectly and I almost cried with happiness. I would recommend this system to every parent with a challenged reader. It is so wonderful for us as parents to finally have found a system that works … and that is also fun for the students. Cheers, D

I discovered the Easy Read system online…

I discovered the Easy Read system online after doing a lot of research to try and identify the problem my daughter had with reading. The school kept saying she was on par for her grade but I knew something was wrong as her reading was deteriorating and the guessing was becoming a worry.  She also started hating the 42 page books that came home from school each day as they took 2 hours to read and it was overwhelming for her.

After reading the story of Jamie on the site it was like reading about my own daughter and I knew I had found the problem. We signed up for the trial program and she immediately loved it. It was quick and fun and exactly what we needed after we had tried tutors and reading more (big disaster)

We are on lesson 55 now and the guessing has stopped. We have quite a way still to go but I am really happy with the improvement so far and the excellent support from David and Sarah. I have also signed up my son as his reading was not as bad as my daughters but his comprehension level was really low.

Thank you David and Sarah. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

Excited to see growth in skills and confidence!

She is loving it so far and can hardly wait for her prize to arrive. I will be upgrading to the full subscription soon. I am excited to see growth in her skills and confidence. Thanks so much!

To everyone at Easyread, you have no idea how much…

To everyone at Easyread, you have no idea how much you have improved Liam’s life. He now willingly reads in class, he reads a menu when we go to restaurants and more importantly he understand what he is reading. He is now asking me questions about stories, asking me for definitions of words and using them when he writes.

I never thought twelve months ago this would have been possible. He is more confident and has a developed a keen passion to learning. He has also proven to himself that with some hard work anything is possible.

We had parent teacher interviews last week and his teacher was amazed with Liam’s progress. He was also very excited that my husband and I were taking such a keen interest in his learning and that we all worked together to achieve the result. Thank you Easyread for giving me a program where I could teach Liam to read myself. I am so proud of Liam for working so hard.

Liam loves your program and especially loved it when he could talk personally with David.

Thank you all

K

During a recent chat with Alex’s teacher she commented that he was not progressing with their phonics programme but his reading was improving. Presumably I need to try and explain that traditional phonics isn’t working for ALex but as his reading is improving, something must be working. Hopefully his spelling will start to improve soon, so the school can see the full benefit of the easyread programme.

SUPER motivated!

I don\’t know how many book reviews you get, but Steyr (age 7) was SUPER motivated to read the Cool Cars book on the second shelf. We even Googled the Lycan afterwards.  Terrific stuff!  Loved it!  Thank you!
