Parent Reviews of Easyread

Our most recent reviews:

He is now reading The Hobbit on his own!

We would like to say thanks very much for everything during the past year. We found your program to be extremely helpful to Tommaso (and now Sophia).

If we look back over the past year – his progress, and more importantly – his confidence, is tremendous.

He is now reading the Hobbit on his own and is fully confident with his ability.

His spelling abilities have improved – but more importantly he is comfortable with the fact that he won’t be the best speller – and that’s ok.

We would like to continue with EasyRead for the rest of this school year (or until he finishes Black Beauty). He was so excited to receive the helicopter (and all of the rewards) – but he didn’t want to stop!

Once again – a big thanks to everyone at Easyread. We are some of your biggest fans – so please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need help spreading the word or recommending you to schools, etc.

Nothing short of amazing transformation

I hope you are well. We have had quite a breakthrough with Phoebe over the last three weeks.

In her routine (impromptu – not from memory) spelling tests at school, she has scored 12/14, 14/14 and 20/20 respectively, the school have recognised Phoebe for her performance and outstanding improvement.

We are are delighted, Phoebe well and truly has the spring in her step again….perhaps a little too much! But to go from a confused little girl to her current position is nothing short of amazing, we thank you for this, great job!

We are going to keep going, but Phoebe is making comments that the lessons can be too easy. I’m not sure how far away from the next shelf she is but it will certainly help to retain her interest.

I know you caution that parents are unlikley to see marked improvement within 90 days, we definietly saw it within 60.

I’m keen that we keep building on the solid foundation and will encourage Phoebe’s interest.

Brought tears to my eyes

I was just really excited this weekend. Lily started reading every sign as we drove to a nearby city! Every billboard and store name! It actually brought tears to my eyes. Thank you for this program.

Advanced 2 years in 6 months…

Just to share with you Lucas’ progress in the reading assessment at school.

In December, 2016 he had a DRA (development reading assessment) 28, equivalent at late second grade level. In March he was DRA 30. In June, DRA 40, equivalent at 4th grade level.

He advanced 2 school years in reading in 6 months. I’m sure his progress was very influenced by the work you guys are doing. Thank you.

Eternally grateful

You’ve been amazing! With the help of EasyRead, Reese has learned to decode words and is becoming a reader, but there are some fluency issues. Thank you, we are eternally grateful for your program.

Can’t imagine where we’d be without Easyread

I have just received Liam’s report card and he has received a C for reading, in addition he has got Bs in science, maths, geography and history. Since he is now able to read he is able to keep up and achieve the results we knew he was capabale of.

Thank you again we are so proud of the progress our boy has made.

I hate to imagine where we would be now without easyread.

Thank you David and Team

My anxiety has been put to rest…

I have seen a great improvement in Hunter’s confidence in reading through the Easyread programme. We are currently on lesson 50 and his teacher mentioned to me very recently that he had written a poem that she could read. Although the spelling was not completely accurate, she could decipher every single word, and that was a big achievement for Hunter. Hunter is feeling better about going into year 4 in September, knowing that slowly, but surely, his reading skills are improving by doing the daily Readeasy sessions on the computer. He really enjoys the games at the end, especially the one with the monster, and his decoding is coming along nicely. I am impressed with the programme and happy to have your expertise in helping my son, as the school had been unable to. My anxiety about any problems my son might have had in terms of his reading ability, have been put to rest. Just as you promised, things are improving and he is right on track!

WE LOVE EASYREAD!!

We are at lesson 45 and my daughter has not wanted to miss one lesson! She loves the prizes and games and most importantly, she loves her new found confidence. Reading hadn’t been ‘easy’ for her up until 45 days ago. Now she feels that it is and she is super happy and proud. Reading has now turned into a positive activity that is surrounded by success. We have only seen tremendous improvement and we are certain that it will continue. WE LOVE EASYREAD!!

Two days ago we went to an event at the library and joined the summer reading program. Bryce is super excited about it and has been following along reading with audio books. He also picked up a book (on his own accord) yesterday and was reading it to himself! My husband and I were so happy to see that! – J

I can’t tell you enough how grateful we are for this program…

I can’t tell you enough how grateful we are for this program. Paul is grateful too. He was very bad in reading when we started: couldn’t even hear the sounds in words, always made mistakes on the short words and always guessing and he has issues focusing too. His reading has moved up to an age appropriate level I would say and what’s maybe even more important is that his confidence is no longer low. He doesn’t feel that he’s a bad reader anymore. At the beginning of grade 2 I heard him say a lot that he is “stupid”. I don’t hear that anymore or if he says it, it is more in joke and not really believing it. The “Hank Zipzer” series that I’ve been reading to him also helped in that respect. I also learned something very important that surprised me: I always thought that you get the best results by doing a lot. Maybe this works for my eldest daughter, but not for Paul. I saw with my own eyes that 5 minutes of reading what he likes and what interests him are more effective than 20 minutes of reading by obligation. – D

Fit my son EXACTLY

The consistent communication between Easy Read and me [has been surprising]. I was not expecting so much personal attention. I am very optimistic at this point regarding the breakthroughs your program promises. It seems that your description of the children who benefit from the program fit my son EXACTLY. I like the attention to the individual student and your obvious desire to help him and not just collect payment for software use.

I about choked on my coffee today…

A video popped up in my Facebook feed. The caption was something about ~ the reason your child guesses when reading. This guessing business was / is our BIGGEST problem. I listened to David’s explanation and immediately signed up for the trial without looking at another thing. Everything he said made TOTAL sense based on the frustrations we were having with Steyr reading.

We’ve done ABC Mouse, More Starfall, a bunch of iPad apps, etc… I expected it would be different from those, but didn’t really know what to expect. I LOVE that the games aren’t like ABC Mouse & Starfall. Sooooo much time wasted on the reward activities instead of working on learning material. Your material is 100% learning, all the time. LOVE this.

He read the word finger today. I about choked on my coffee! It works. He enjoys it. MUCH less fighting to get him to do this system, than the other things. These games are REALLY boy friendly. Not that they aren’t girl friendly, but… often times getting a boy’s interest in homework of any kind is MUCH harder than a girl. If you can’t slam it, kick it, throw it, roll on it, toss it in the mud, remove its wheels, then boys couldn’t care less. They merely endure. He really loves this! eg- 70% of the time we have to go back and dump the guy in the gloop šŸ˜‰ AND – he can see his progress! He knows he’s reading better and it has rebooted his interest and confidence!

Thank you very much for all your help. Ben is now…

Thank you very much for all your help. Ben is now plowing his way through, “Worlds Worst Children # 2”, having read the first one with much enthusiasm. Ironically, as he was reading about “Nit Boy”, he got nits. But was really happy and calling himself “Nit Boy”.

cheers J

Held a ‘reading party’ for his graduation!

Yes, Andrew is looking forward to the helicopter!
We plan to end our Easyread subscription.
We held a “reading party” yesterday to celebrate his “graduation” from Easyread.
We had his favorite meal, and played a reading game (Apples to Apples) for the first time as a family. He was presented a small selection of easy chapter books he can read. Although he still needs help with a word here and there, I’m thrilled to report he read over half his first book yesterday!
We’re all thrilled.
Thanks so much!

A smashing success for our family

Easyread has been an absolutely smashing success for our family. The trainer text has been the key to helping my son make sense of all the different sounds that English letters and letter combinations can make. The eye tracking exercises disguised as games have also been a great help. Your program is so clever and so comprehensive. My son can read very well now, but we will keep using it to the end to get as much help with spelling as possible. Bravo to you for creating such a fantastic system.

We are going to cancel our subscription to EasyRead….

We are going to cancel our subscription to EasyRead. It is a great program and really helped Landin progress this school year. Let me know if there is something specific I need to do to cancel, or if this email will suffice. Thank you,
Regards,
T (at lesson 60)

When Elana started the program in July of 2016…

When Elana started the program in July of 2016, she was able to read short words, but couldn’t decode long but simple words. She loved stories and always enjoyed having me read to her, but constantly avoided reading herself and would only do so when strongly urged. Now, less than a year after we started, Elana’s reading (as well as her confidence in her ability to read) has tremendously improved – from a DRA reading level of 4 last summer to about 20 or 24. (Note that her reading level will be assessed at the end of the school year. I’m guessing her current level based on the books she can now read). She now picks up books from the library (often chapter books) she wants to read on her own.

We’re so glad to have stumbled upon the Easyread website when we were desperate to find a solution to Elana’s reading problem last summer. Elana and I still have a lot of work to do to improve her reading skills, but the task no longer seems as daunting as it did just a year ago.

Here’s what we liked about the program:
• The Trainer Text really worked!
• The Eyetracking exercises really worked too! Amazing that it made such a big difference after just 10 days!
• Elana absolutely LOVED the prizes! She can’t wait for the helicopter
• She really liked the games the first few months. The games really helped get her interested in the program and continue with it.
• She loved playing the extra game, Eggi.

Here’s a list of what she didn’t like as much:
• She wasn’t crazy about the Writing Lab. She couldn’t type yet (she’s only 7) and doing this exercise stressed her out. We ended up skipping it a lot.
• She really liked Type Race because it taught her to type. She was unhappy about Spell Race though when it started because she thought that she had to type fast to do well in it. At first, I was doing the typing as she spelled the words on paper. Then eventually I was able to convince her that speed was not important.
• Except for Mole Whacker, she didn’t like doing the games after a few months. They got too repetitive for her.

Overall, it was a really great experience! We always recommend Easyread whenever we hear of a child having reading difficulties.

Thank you so much!

J

I see progress in Colin’s reading. For example…

I see progress in Colin’s reading. For example, I can understand him better when he reads out loud and he is more eager to read signs on the road or at the store. He used to be afraid or just not interested to read anything, even if it was a note on his favorite toy. – A

Achieved beyond my expectation…

I am delighted with Barnaby’s progress. He is now reading books at home pretty fluently. (He read two books to me at bedtime last night).

My objective was to get him reading fluently and he has achieved that beyond my expectations at this stage…

Caught him reading!

William is really enjoying the sessions and really looks forward to them. We have seen an increase in his reading confidence and more enthusiasm to have a go at decoding unfamiliar words in books or magazines. I have even caught him having a sneaky read of a book, when he was supposed to be doing his maths homework – what a huge change in attitude.

I don’t have any worries about the system or the progress that William is making. He is enjoying the sessions and becoming a secret agent!

Liam has been doing EasyRead for about 9 months…

Liam has been doing EasyRead for about 9 months.

Liam’s reading at the end of the first semester of Grade 4 was behind by about 2 years, getting a D on his report card. We had spent a small fortune trying to help him but nothing worked. I started doing some research and came across EasyRead on the internet. I thought I would give it a go.

We did the initial 10 lessons and Liam found the exercises fun and not really like homework. Previously it was a chore to get him to do homework. I spoke with Liam’s teacher and explained the program and she agreed that instead of the set homework Liam could do his EasyRead lessons, he also took a sheet of the characters to school.

At first we did not see any improvement, if anything Liam’s reading slowed a little when reading normal text at which point we stopped reading text and limited it to the EasyRead lessons.

Toward Christmas time of last year, after approximately 100 lessons we started to notice a marked improvement in Liam’s reading. EasyRead had taught him how to read again. Liam was reading words that he would never had attempted previously, with the assistance of the EasyRead characters. He still received a D at the end of Grade 4, but myself and his teacher had noted a marked improvement.

Liam has now completed the first semester of Grade 5 and 200 lessons of EasyRead, and his results were amazing. At then end of Semester 2 Grade 4, Liam’s reading test was a level 28, he has now jumped to Level 40 gaining a C grade.

More importantly the improvement in Liam’s confidence is unbelievable. He will now read in front of others, he doesn’t feel different. The day he received his C for reading, his teacher wrote me an email stating he could not believe the improvement in Liam’s reading in such a short period of time.

I will be forever in debt to David and the team, for providing me with a learning tool that Liam enjoyed doing but more importantly delivered the results.

I have been provided support from the team every step of the way. I became Liam’s teacher, I can now read EasyRead too!

Thank you K

PS. Liam has been telling me that EasyRead has been helping him so much especially now he is on the same reading level as his friends.

Another first this week…

For the first time this week, Hugh tackled a word he did not know from memory. He decoded it himself without me asking him to break it down. I think that he realized himself that he did it and was surprised and delighted. He has a huge bank of sight words and long unfamiliar words cause him problems so I was delighted to see this small change.

He’s been exited from intervention! Now at grade level!

We’re feeling it’s time for Andrew to \”graduate\” from Easyread. As you know, we’re thrilled with his progress!
We just received word from his spring assessments at school and they showed great gains. He’s been exited from intervention and is now reading at grade level.

Enormous increase in his ability to blend

We have found the program very helpful so far. Jared has started to attempt to decode words outside the program once he has had a guess and it has been incorrect. He doesn’t always decode correctly yet (as we are only on lesson 47) but it has started to become his go to strategy rather than just spitting out any word that starts with the same letter which is a great improvement!

I have also seen an enourmous increase in his ability to chunk and blend larger words together which is fantastic as when he started he would sound out the sounds but then still just guess with larger, unfamiliar words.

He is still really enjoying the lessons and although he isn’t always enthusiastic to do them once he sits down he is more than happy to complete them. We are eagerly waiting to get to the point where we hopefully start to see the skills he is gaining in the program transfer to his outside reading.

Thank you for all the encouragement and support so far. Jared is loving getting his gifts in the mail and it is a definite motivator to keep his interest in his daily sessions.

Steady upward climb

Lauren has really enjoyed the lessons and has stuck with Easyread more than anything we have tried. Her progress has been a steady upward climb. Short word are very easy for her now, she sounds out the tougher ones. She usually catches the I and E correctly now.
