Parent Reviews of Easyread

Our most recent reviews:

Although you don't expect it…

Although you don’t expect it, there has been an improvement in Katherine’s ‘reading age’. All the children at her school have recently been tested and instead of being below her age she is now at the stage she should be. The Headmistress is impressed and has requested that she sits in on a lesson with Katherine to see what she is doing. Katherine is also happier and more confident in class and wants to contribute to discussions; again the Head’s observations.
This is all great news for Katherine BUT I can see that she will achieve more! Katherine now has a ‘lust’ for reading, if I have no time to sit and listen to her read she will follow me with her book reading aloud to me, no matter where I am!!!
With this enthusiasm I know that she will continue to improve and I have to say that it is mainly due to Easyread. No longer do I have a tearful child who is frustrated by people not ‘understanding’ that she herself is disappointed in her own progress and not ‘understanding’ that she was trying her best.
I swear that an Angel was watching over me when as I searched the internet for some sort of answer or explanation about her lack of progress, when up popped your site! I honestly cannot say thank you enough.

I hope that is what you want to hear, as for the next prize after APPLE being a fart machine…. well it is not something that I would buy but I know that Katherine and her sister will think it is absolutely brilliant so I have no objections.

with regards,

Joanne

This is only lesson 2, but…

This is only lesson 2, but Ava already loves it.  We were on our way home from a b-day party this afternoon and in the car she was asking when we could get home so she could do her easy read program and how long until we would be home, lol.

Thank you so much,

Jennifer

This program has been the best thing for Alex and I can’t thank you enough for all the you are doing to help children enjoy reading. I am thankful every day that I found your program and it’s made an amazing difference in our lives.
Before Alex started your program the testimonials brought me to tears and at the end of the program I am so grateful that the tears are tears of joy for my son.
Can’t thank you enough,
Jennifer

I am finding the easyread system very easy…

I am finding the easyread system very easy to follow and we are seeing results from Patrick although slight they are there for example it was my birthday on the weekend and on my card he wrote a whole page of words, not all words were spelt right but I could tell what they were meant to be. Previously he wouldn’t had even attempted to write anything. We are very happy so far.
Patrick sometimes when doing school work still mixes up P with B.

Rebecca

Joshua has really progressed exceptionally well and…

Joshua has really progressed exceptionally well and i will recommend easy read to any child who is struggling. This has been the best time for Josh and he is reading and spelling like a pro. It has been wonderful for his confidence. He said it has even helped him with the reversals of his b’s and d’s. Thank you for all you have done to put this program together. the prizes really are awsome and Josh still loves to wear his ape in the cape T – shirt. We have both sooo enjoyed the past 6 months with you.

Keep up the hard work.

Warm Regards
Sam

Jasmine is keen on Easyread and…

Jasmine is keen on Easyread and she and I both recognise great benefits from doint it. It may not be done every day but she does want to do it after having a blip where she wasn’t enjoying it. She enjoys using the tablet very much. She is now a very keen reader, reading in bed every night. Her teachers have remarked this last term how much her literacy has improved.
Kind regards
Catherine

When Rhys started the Easyread System he was…

When Rhys started the Easyread System he was at least 2 years behind his classmates in all subjects. He had so little confidence he would not apply himself in any of the lessons. He was well behaved at school but would not even begin the tasks the children were set, let alone finish them.

His confidence began to grow with the introduction of Easyread, the support he received from the team along with the certificates, prizes and letters (which he was able to read himself) really boosted him.

Since September 2010 he has acheived reading level 10 at school, he began the term at level 5!! His writing level has risen from 2C (very poor) to 5C and for the first time ever he is achieving A and B grades on his reports. He has improved in every subject since learning to read well.

I cannot thank Easyread enough, I believe they have attributed greatly to Rhys’s progress and would quite happily have paid double and will do so for my daughter when she is old enough.

Thank you,

Kate

I have had to reply to your last…

I have had to reply to your last e-mail as a sign of my appreciation for everything you and your team have done to continually help Ewan with his on going battle with dyslexia.  I don not beleive I could of asked for any more help or support than what you have provided.  I can not tell you how may times I have felt at a loss with Ewan and the advice and help you have given me has been invaluable.

Thanks you for your continued support.

His reading has improved no end…

His reading has improved no end and now he is lying in bed reading books by himself! At school he is motivated to read now and his teacher is rewarding him with house points each day for good reading.
With regard to easy read, he does seem to appear to be less motivated as he thinks that it is very repetitive but we reassure him that this all contributing to him reading more easily.
When reading a book (his current one is Percy Jackson and the Lightening Years!) he does struggle with some words and this is when he will guess. If he is reading with us we get him to sound out the word etc but when he reads in bed at night by himself i am sure that he is guessing some of the words and carrying on.
However, we feel that this is such a big leap to have gone from not reading to wanting to read by himself at night that we are not discouraging this.
I hope this is the correct thing to do. He does his easy read with either my self or my husband present so we can monitor how he is progressing.
It is not a quick fix and it is only really now that we are seeing the difference. I do however recommend you to parents at Matthews school as I believe this has been a truely positive experience for Matthew!
Kind regards
Caroline

He is done with Easy Read…

He is done with Easy Read and he told me that Easy Read helped him A LOT. I recommended it to a couple of families and he goes to a school specifically for children with Dyslexia and they are looking at it as well. Thank you so very much. Judy

1) Dov finds the lessons easy and fun…

1) Dov finds the lessons easy and fun
2) The variety of games are nice
3)The only negative point is that we have sometimes problems if he is doing the game full-screen. Almost every time at one on another stage it froze and he has to go out of full screen to be able to finish the game. Since I am not very computer- litterate,I cannot help him.
4) He progressed a lot. His reading is amaizing, now he is able to read Barrington Stoke books for ages 8plus independently and just recently he started to read on his amazonkindle a “normal” book for his age, 1-2 pages a day.
5)His spelling is still very weak, but improving.
6)He is still enthusiastic and doing diligently Easyread every day.
7) He keeps forgetting his exercises to improve his eyes. But he takes omega 3 every day.

Thtat’s all I can think about.
Best regards
Kati

I just want to update you on Oliver's reading…

I just want to update you on Oliver’s reading as I am so proud of what he has achieved in the last year.   Oliver finished the Easyread programme in Dec..  As instructed,  I made sure that he completed the exercises almost every day to ensure the best outcome from the programme.

I am delighted to report that he now has his nose stuck in a book every night!  He is working his way though the ‘Wimpy Kid’ books which he is loving.  As you would expect, the improvement in his reading has had a fantastic knock – on effect with the rest of his school work.

I want to say a HUGE THANKYOU to you and your team – you really do change lives by giving children the tools that they need to read – keep up the good work!

Kind regards,

Jackie

Courtney has gone from being a reluctant reader to…

Courtney has gone from being a reluctant reader to one full of confidence. She has just completed reading a chapter book about mudlark from England called “Meet Grace” by Sofie Laguna that was sent out to Australia in 1808; not sometime she would ever have picked up to read prior to doing the Easyread. I think in parts this book was a little difficult for her but she was not put off by the unfamiliar words which I was both amazed and very pleased to see happening. With regards to improvements I can’t really say I had any issues with the program infact I think I too have learnt some valuable lessons about children’s development of literacy. As mentioned in previous emails, I will continue to support Courtney’s learning. I am so very pleased I came across your program and it benefits for Courtney’s learning have been huge. Thank you to both yourself and David for your ongoing emails and support throughout Courtney’s time on Easyread. Just last Wednesday I was telling one of my colleagues about your program and the wonderful benefits it has had for Courtney. I will continue to let others know about the benefits. I guess my advise would be don’t let it too big as a company as you may loose that personal touch it now has which I think would be a shame. Again, thank you from myself, and Courtney of course. Kindest Regards Helen

Caleb's early reading development was…

Caleb’s early reading development was one of frustration and most times confusion. He attended school and was taught to read phonetically. It was noticed that Caleb’s reading development was poor and he was constantly behind targets. I was advisted to practice with Caleb at home. I noticed that Caleb became incredibly anxious at trying to read. He would often guess a word in the hopes of getting it right. He struggled with the ability to decode a word. We would try and learn words for a spelling test and I would notice that Caleb would always try and spell a word with the hardest sound he heard for example with the word cat. He would start with T. After three years of schooling, Caleb became withdrawn and lacked confidence. He was getting lost in a teaching environment that required he read from the whiteboard. I withdrew him from school with the aim to homeschool him. I gave him the opportunity to learn at his own pace and ability. At the age of 9, I was very concerned that he was still not reading. I tried phonetic methods but found Caleb still struggled with reading. If we read a book Caleb would guess a word. I thought he was reading until he encountered that same word on the same page and not be able to read it because he had forgot what it was. Sounding out a word was confusing. He could sound out CAT and hear the word but when he sounded out CAR, he could not hear the word. I searched the web and I found the Easyread website and watched the videos. A lot of what David mentioned was like he had been in my living room watching Caleb read. I became more aware of why Caleb was finding it hard to read. I took the plunge and signed Caleb up. At first, Caleb resisted reading. It was too hard for him. With a lot of encouragement, Caleb started to relax. He started to enjoy the games especially Fighter Pilot and Hangman. Easyread Eggi and Eyetracker have become a favourite part of the lesson. We are reading the stories and although it is slow going, he has stopped guessing the words and decodes the word with the aid of the pictures. I have on one occasion been encouraged with Caleb’s progress. We were travelling on the road and I heard Caleb decoding two words from a sign board. The words were “To Let”. This is the first time he has read without any anxiety. Kind regards Lisa

He is doing rather well…

He is doing rather well with it and I can see a big improvement with Sean’s reading.

She is really enjoying the program…

She is really enjoying the program. Loves the humor and the simple but challenging games. I am a reading teaching and have my PhD in education from NYU and I have looked into many different types of tutoring and programs to assist students……this one is really “spot-on.” I have had such difficulty trying to help my daughter…there is just such a different dynamic being the parent as opposed to the being the teacher or tutor. Anyway, I am very pleased with the entire program so far. Thank you!

Luke sits down to the easyread each day…

Luke sits down to the easyread each day. With the spelling, their are certain words that he finds easy to do and their are some that he gets wrong, l think it might be not hearing the different sounds of the letters clearly, he gets upsets but l sit with him and support him.
With the reading he his doing very well, he can read the small words but, still struggles with the larger words. He does the decoding and reads it.
Luke likes doing the activites to do with the reading. when he gets it wrong l encourage him to keep on trying
Luke says that he feels better because he getting better at reading.
l feel that Luke is doing really well and that his confidence is growing.

Eli's Story…

Age 2-3 Biting other children, easily frustrated in large groups of children, very difficult.

Age 4-5 Still easily frustrated, uncoordination, hyperactivity, very busy. repeated Kindergarten twice. Not recognizing letters. No teacher recognition of learning disability.

Age 6-7 1st grade, still not recognizing letters, repeated 1st grade. Searched out PACE program and this helped bring him up on grade levels on specific learning skills. Helped tremendously with uncoordination and frustration and focus. Still not reading but able to decode a litle. Trouble in school, stomachaches, headaches, issues with behavior, other students and FATIGUE.

Age 8-9 Homeschool> immediate change in behavior at home with family. searching for reading program and tried at least 2-3 but no results. Most of programs were childish to a 7 year old who is self conscious already of inability to read.
Age 9-10
Found Easy Read through dyslexia website. In the trial lesson Eli liked the program
the progress was encouraging to Eli. Enjoyed the games. The headaches have lessened greatly and the ease of the other subjects for school were a surprise to me It was as if his brain wasn’t so taxed and his ability and energy levels are up to do the other learning with out the headaches and fatigue. At lesson 60 Eli is reading at a beginning level and is wanting to use his decoding.
So he went from frustrated and not willing and not able to read to wanting and able to begining to read.
we also see the need for a program like Easy Read. There is a tutoring program here where we live that is very expensive and really don’t know if it works and there is a Charter School here that works with kids that have learning disabilites specifically dyslexia but it is very small and full with a waiting list.
I had thaought that I would send the Charter school a testimony similiar to the one I am sending to you. to help those out there struggling and possibly further Easy Read.

Sincerely,
Racheal

Sophie is continuing to do well with…

Sophie is continuing to do well with her English at school now and is progressing rapidly through her reading book levels at school. We are noticing that she continues to find seeing patterns (times tables, spelling rules etc)difficult and she is getting extra support at school to help with this and her writing is still hard work for her. However, she is now much more able to express her ideas and her confidence is growing… not least because even with these areas of difficulty she is predicted to end the school year above national average in both Maths and English…. a massive achievement and down to all her hard work and perseverence. I think I hardly need to say how proud we are of her.
Anyway, I hope that all is going well for you all and that the move on to bigger will not force you to lose the individual attention and involvement with each child. I certainly recommend the system to anyone who is finding that their child is having difficulties or is even just resistant to reading.
With best regards
Judy
